A spell to calm anxiety

I've had major anxiety problems recently so I created this spell to help myself, thought I'd share it.
-----------------------------
You will need:
A gold candle
A silver candle
Lavender oil (doesn't have to be lavender. Use whatever scent relaxes you)
Imagination :)

Cast your circle and do any of your usual preparatory rituals. Place the two candles on your altar and anoint them with the oil.
Light the gold candle and say:
Great God, Horned One,
God of the Sun
Let your energy flow through me,
And help me to calm my anxiety

Then light the silver candle and say:
Great Goddess, Triple Goddess,
Goddess of the moon
Let your energy flow through me,
And help me to calm my anxiety

Sit quietly for a few moments and take three deep breaths, inhaling through the nose, exhaling through the mouth.
Imagine light flowing into your nose and puffs of black smoke being forced from your mouth. Then say this incantation (make note of this one, as we will be saying it three times):

Anxiety is taking its toll,
So I speak these words with my heart and soul,
To calm the storm that rages inside,
Take my worries and cast them aside

Now, close your eyes if it helps you visualize and place your hands on your chest. Imagine a ball of dark energy being drawn from your chest and into the palm of your hands. It looks like a storm in a sphere; black clouds, thundering and crackling with rage, about the size of a football. Take hold of this ball in the palm of your hands, hold it out in front of you and slowly begin to squeeze it with both hands, slowly compressing the storm ball until it is about the size of a golf ball... still raging but tiny.

Take a few more deep breaths and repeat the incantation above. After saying the words a 2nd time, imagine the storm beginning to calm. The clouds are fading, more light is getting through. See this process taking place until eventually what you are holding in your hands is a little ball of calming blue sky. Beautiful light blue, with just a few fluffy white clouds dotted around. Allow the ball to expand again until it is back to being the size of a football... but now it is calm and light.

Take the ball and place it back into your chest. Take deep breaths as you slowly allow the ball back into your body and as it goes in, your entire body if filled with a beautiful light that shines through you.

Say the incantation one last time as you feel the light flowing through you and meditate for as long as you feel necessary, knowing that you have it in you to be as calm as the sky you imagined.

End the ritual as you usually would.
--------------------------------------------------

Hope this helps people,
Blessed Be.

How long have you been practicing magic for, Nathan? Do you use a particular system ?

Hmm, I think I've been practicing now for around 8 years. Before that I spent all my spare time reading all the witchcraft books I could get my hands on.

I learned my basics from the very first book I read, it's called Hedge Witch: Guide to Solitary Witchcraft by Rae Beth. She was sending letters to a couple who wished to learn about Paganism and then collected and published all her letters, it's a good read.

I simply identify myself as a Pagan witch. I've tried to read about as many different branches of the occult as I can and my view of the world and magic has kind of become a mix of themes that run through different traditions.

I've always been a solitary. I use a lot of candle magic, visualisations and meditation.

I'll do a complex ritual now and again, but I tend to like to keep the tools and set out very simple and use visualisation techniques. As in this spell, visualisation is an enormous part of my spell craft and is definitely how I build up my most energetic and potent spells.

Sorry, I know you didn't ask for the life story haha. But that's me :)

I enjoyed this! I don't read too many of others' spells online mostly because so much of it is like what you find at sites like Spells of Magic... but I decided to click on some because this is my first time on this forum and I wanted to see what it was like. Glad to see these are real, helpful spells here :)

I was really happy to see lavender -- whenever I make a tea for relaxation it MUST have lavender in it (for me, at least) and I always keep lavender incense (and actual lavender when I can) for this. Especially for anti-anxiety, I think lavender is helpful (for just general calming and relaxation, I tend to go with jasmine... but the 'stronger' stuff like ridding anxiety or creating sweet dreams, it just has to be lavender! haha)

I also like the visualization you described. Visualization is so important to magic, but I often see spells written that just pass over it. Of course, everyone visualizes in their own way, but I think it gets... lost somehow when nothing is described at all.

Thanks for sharing :3

I love this spell! I was diagnosed with clinical depression several years ago and anxiety is something I often struggle with. Meditation is helpful, but not always, especially during a severe episode. I'm including it in my BOS, if that's alright with you! Thank you so much for posting this lovely spell!
