Singing bowl

Hi, I normally cleanse my crystals in the earth but I would like to try cleansing with a singing bowl to increase the vibrations. My question is does anyone know if the bowl should be made of crystal or will a metal one be ok. Thanks

I love that you use the Earth to clear your crystals. I don't think it makes a difference using a crystal bowl or metal bowl for clearing the crystals. If all you have is a metal singing bowl, I think that would be fine, in fact, it's a rather excellent idea, to tell you the truth.

I love the results I've gotten with Tibetan 7-metal singing bowls for clearing or balancing the energy of people and things (especially when people have used them on me!). I found that the non-decorated, "uglier" ones actually seem to be better-made and more powerful. I was told the real bowls are enchanted with healing spells, as Tibetan monks constantly chant mantras while they construct them (but that might have been a marketing ploy, lol).

I was told the ones without the decorative writing or
colors, plain like this one, are more resonant. I know
I'm more drawn to these than to the fancy ones when I
pass by them all in a shop. The "7-metals" correspond
to the seven main chakras along the spine, so letting
the bowls "sing" is like using a tuning fork on you ener-
gy field, re-balancing each chaka, and the entire aura.

You're welcome. Your question intrigued me, so I did some further research on how other people might approach this.

This person sounds the bowl and holds the crystals above the bowl as it vibrates:

While this person, submerses a stone in water inside the bowl:

Interesting how different people explore different methods for this.

...and no, "monks" aren't piously chanting mantras as these are made, as I'd been told!

Apparently, that was just horse pukey. This appears to be a village craft, like many others. Also, this village is not the "last village" to make these, as someone who uploaded this same video on their YouTube claimed --yet another marketing ploy. :-| I saw other bowl-making videos made in other locations, so yeah, whatever.

Anyway, thanks for your question! It made me dig, and learn.

Hi. Thank you for the information. I went and collected my singing bowl today. I went for a medium size chakra bowl. It is amazing. I cleansed my lapis with it and could hear the crystal singing. Such a beautiful experience and so much easier than burying them.

Kassandra, thank you for that highly useful information. I actually just had my first experience with singing bowls this week while at a mediation chant session. United the sound is so beautiful. I have also heard they are very useful when it comes to cleansing crystals as well.
Blessed Be

Kewl, glad it helped ya'll.

Actually when I first read the OP, I envisioned just sounding the bowl in the room, with the crystals somewhere in the room (could be next to it, or whatever). I think "holding them over the bowl" like the guy did in the video was unnecessary (though, I enjoyed his little comments while he was doing it). Just because we can't see sound, doesn't mean it's not affecting things. Sound waves affect everything they reach.

Likewise, I don't think the bowls "need" a sound amplifier (i.e., like the water that the guy incorporated in the second video), for the same reason, and as well, I don't think it was necessary to put them "inside" the bowl, either.

I personally don't think the bowls need these "props" to be effective, but I guess these are just fun things to do. I think that just sounding the bowl(s) will affect everything in the room, not only the crystals, but everything --anyone in the room, the energy of the room itself, plants, animals in the room, etc. I don't know, that's just me.

In my experience and research I have learned that yes these props arent really needed. The sound waves created "singing" can amplify the energies of the crystals by just the crystals simply being in the same room.

I put my crystals in the bowl but haven't used water or props. I like it plain and simple. Although when I tried it it sent my cat nuts. Shame she's normally so calm.

Hearing is so much more sensitive in dogs and cats, than it is in humans. I could only imagine how much louder it must be for them. That might be something to research, as well. Perhaps it's not good for their little eardrums (?), I don't know.
