sea shells?

Alright, well it's not technically a crystal or stone, but in a sense it's related. I guess I just wasn't sure where else this could fit.

A long time ago, I spoke to the good folks here about water magick, due to my love of the oceans, and the powerful connection I feel to the element of water. I find that sea shells being present have done positive things for me; whether it was simply their presence, or as a representation/focus for my energy and will. I brought a collection of shells from the beach last year, and their currently on my dresser, beside my chalice and some beads.

I was wondering; does anyone else use shells, whether it's related to elemental magick or not? What do you use it for?

I do use sea shells. I actually a large one that I used as a water bowl :D
Now I just have a few, one for representing water if I'm doing a spell outdoors and drank all my water :P
And one on a necklace, to bring out the water element in my personality. But I will soon be adding it to a pisces sachet.

I would like to find an ablone shell for my altar, but until i have one I have a basic shell holding my sage. ablone shells are used by shamans to hold burning sage as they are smudging.

Ravencry: Ahh, that sounds lovely. I've been meaning to search for larger shells around here, but no luck so far. I'm trying to see how to use them in spells and rites. I've also been focusing on elemental water for a long time, and I'm looking for a water diety that I connect with as well, so I'm trying to consider uses. Perhaps I need to search harder.

Zili: I've heard of this. I don't have an abalone shell either. :\

I absolutely have and love shells. Mine are all fresh-water Mother-Of-Pearl inlaid which I received in The Wild (I don't live near an ocean). Shells in general are potentially very powerful. They have Mineral (stone) in the form of MOP or Ab. but are MADE by living creatures! This makes it a super-strong connection. In fact, before coins came into use as currency shells were used as money. This gives them a strong connection to prosperity. Not to bring you untold riches but simply to have or be able to obtain what you need when you need it. In a way, that is the ultimate in prosperity!

When there is imbalance in my heart or my home I take out my blue altercloth and decorate it with various decorative shells plus one big one I use for charging my stones in water. I also have another large shell where I keep my sage in. I love shells ^^
I also use shells for wish magick, if I'm at the beach and find a shell I will charge my spell into it and throw it as far into the ocean as I can or if the weather is nice I'll walk into the water till the current takes it out of my hands.

Bless

I think shells are really ..... hmmmm..... i have no words to explain..... umm.... let me see...... beautiful, spiritual, .. i dunno... i really love shells and i don't have words so say how how much! I have a beautiful shell..... the type that curls and is long and i use it as a lucky charm for my examinations, i have used it for about 3 years now and in every of those exams, i get A's. i usually charge it by the powers of the nature (because i don't have a beach near my house :( ) i just leave it on a leaf or branch of a tree and ask the tutha de dannas to empower it with their powers and to help me get through my exam. WHICH works wonders !!! and i LOOOOVEEEE the beach :D
