Yosemite Falls web Cam

We've have had super deep snow packs this year in Cali.
With the heat wave that just went through, the snow is melting at a crazy fast rate. I've been checking on this web cam and have noticed a significant increase of water volume coming over in the last several days. Almost double. Check it out.
Course this is a live cam, so it will be interesting to see it decrease as summer goes on.

Oh, if anyone knows how to do a screen shot and paste it here we will see the miracle of water in her cycle at this magnificent park.

Medano Creek at the Sand Dunes experienced a similar event this year. We went down a week later than usual, but the water deeper, colder, and faster than in years past. I would love to see Yosemite Falls in person.

Kern river has been raging too. I saw this bridge right after it washed out in 1966. Right in the town if Kernville.

This river is one of the most deadly...just this spring run off, 19 people have perished, a rapper who is unknown to me, just last weekend. Never underestimate the power of water.

Welp, last year at this time I was lounging on the banks of the Merced River.
... a beautiful view of Half Dome looming to my right and a lovely stone bridge to my left. Vacationers drifted by on my river t.v. laughing and splashing, the smell of pine is my incense and the air is hot enough to enjoy the icy plunge.
Boy do I miss that place.
The waterfall (Yosmite Falls) did not have near as much water coming over last year as it does this year. The one photo I put in my Yosmite thread only shows the lower portion of the falls, it's in 2 parts, upper and lower. You can see the upper falls in a meadow picture but it is across the valley, and hard to see.
Here's my vacation last year...

I totally forgot to mention, it's interesting to watch this waterfall either live and in person or here on the web cam,
I find it has "sets" much like the ocean.
Suddenly bursts of water come over at rather regular intervals in sets of 3 or more, you can follow the burst all the way down.

Medano Creek does the same thing during the surge. It's fed by snowmelt, although I don't know the name of the specific peak that we see behind the dunes. We've talked about hiking to Zapata Falls, which is just outside the park. We would just need to spend two days at the dunes for that. I wish I could think of what that phenomenon is called, when the water is coming in waves like that. I've probably read it, at some point, but accessing the information is another story.

It seems like ebb and flow, and that it is the life in (of) water...sort of like it's breathing.

Thought I'd bump this one since it's spring, the snow melt off this year should make for great viewing!
Enjoy!

I live in Yosemite and the storms this year/last year were the bane of my existence. Happy it's gone now.

Last year, April was much worse wouldn't you say? They closed the park then. I'm sorry this bothers you. There must be lots of rain and snow to make beautiful waterfalls!

Holy cow, Holy moly, and Holy schizer.
Bumping this. Never seen so much water come over! (go to first message in thread for link)
Heard they are closing Yosemite once again because of the melting snow creating flood conditions.
Not to mention the lake re-forming in the San Joaquin Valley, which was once biggest lake west of the Mississippi...welcome back Lake Tulare! Perhaps it will trickle down and refill the aquifers!
