Have no clue what this might mean but thought one of you might. Driving in yesterday I saw a bright red sun - :dunno: just thought that might mean something here - maybe I am off.

Here in South Western Scotland at this time of year, the Sun is coppery orange in the morning and silver in the afternoon.I photographed it on my camera phone, but I don't know if it's worked right.lol.It's the weather that causes it,don't panic or owt -it's not the 'apocolyptic' sun .lol.Where are you in the World,Moz? Uk?

Was it morning or evening? If it was in the morning, a red sun usually represents upcoming bad weather (storms of some kind). If it appears in the evening, it represents a very pleasant night weather-wise.

Yeh,that's why I asked where you are , we are northern latitudes here and are used to this in cold weather. We get some cool sundogs and halos,Moon coronas etc. occasionally also.

as juliaki said that its also to do with weather "red sky at night, shepards delight; red sky in morning, shepard take warning"

Its also believed that when a red sun rises its means blood has been spilled during the night

It's an effect of the relative density and thickness of the atmosphere. The more dense and thicker the more light is being bent. Slower wavelenghts are bent more severely than fast ones.

Old topic

An old saying for predicting weather -

Red sun in the morning, sailors take warning
Red sun at night, sailor's delight

Red sun appearance varies by atmospheric conditions - changes in weather. Time of day influences temperature & that impacts wind, rain etc.
