Advice on a spell

Hi, I could use some advice on an ongoing spell I'm doing and this seemed like the best place to ask! It's a spell for finding the right new home that I found online. You draw a square on paper and write the properties you want your new home to have next to the lines, then drip wax from a green candle onto the lines, thinking about the home you want, what you will do to try finding it, imagining yourself there, etc. The spell worked quickly for the original caster that posted it, and although they said it could take a month and I've been performing it for a week straight now I am finding places but nothing that seems quite right. I did put it on hold for a while though, for about a month. My housemate and I want to move from one city to another, so I've been going back and forth to look for a place since I can stay with my parents but have only been able to stay for 10 days or so at a time. I found the spell last month when I was visiting and started doing it but stopped when I had to leave, then started again this visit. I possibly should have started it before travelling here but wanted to wait for the moon to be waxing. But should I have burned the old paper and candle and started a completely new spell, and should I still do that if I don't find anywhere this time? Also we have quite a few requirements for a new place, allowing pets being one of them, I was quite general in writing down what we'd need for our new place (eg within budget and area, ground or first floor) but would it have been better to be more specific and say exactly what we wanted? (ground floor, number of bedrooms, area, budget). I haven't done much spellwork before so don't know if my inexperience is playing a part, but I have been doing the spell in the same room, roughly around the same time, cleansing room beforehand. Any advice anyone can give me on this would be a big help as it is getting incredibly frustrating travelling back and forth but still not finding somewhere.

That's a pretty confusing description :-? Perhaps you could share the actual instructions? Wax dribbling on lines means little. What does this act represent? And honestly, it's not necessary to imagine every step of the hunt & search, but just the "ah-ha!" & imagine moving in. The universe can fill in the blanks. Every spell needs a clear intention & a petition list is fairly common. If the instructions said to burn the petition then do so. What type of candle was used - taper or vigil? .

In my experience a spell is done once at the auspicious time & left alone to do it's work. It is given a reasonable length of time to manifest. You put your back into it once & forget it. So I'm confused why it was repeated. That has a yo-yo effect in my understanding.

Even a 7-day vigil candle spell is only done once at the start of the 7 days.

Usually a candle spell requires a candle to be washed to remove energy from shoppers handling, then prepped with oil to hold a charge & herbs to add strength, then psychically charged to set the intention, and finally lit with a blessing & left to burn completely in a couple hours at most.

Where you cast doesn't really matter as long as it's private enough to prevent interruptions.

Thanks for your reply, here's the link to the spell: http://angelpractitioners.com/simple-sp ... ng-a-home/ The candle I'm using is a small taper candle, I cleansed it with reiki after buying it. While I was away from my parents' house I wasn't really looking for properties as I wouldn't be able to view them in person, it wasn't until I was back at my parents that I restarted the spell and started to look for properties again which might have added to the yo-yo effect, and that's why I'm wondering whether to start the spell fresh, burning or burying the old one, or try something different?

Thanks for the link. It helps. Mmm. It's the kind of spell that relies on your skills of visualization & uses the actions to act it out. The instructions left out the most important parts of a candle spell & that is to set your intention into it & how to dispose of the remains.

The square of daily wax dribbles is like building the foundation of the house. Each wall represents a safe haven & your other requirements. The drawing has to BE the house in your mind, &'while building each wall you should be thinking of being in your house in the imagination. The act and seeing it in your mind builds the energy into a mental construction. If you don't connect to this in your imagination then you are not working the spell & are just dripping wax on some paper. From your 1st vague description I'd say you didnt yet understand how to engage your magical mind-set to connect. What's playfully called getting your Witchy on :D by some.

The instructions didn't say whether to burn the paper or not, but with wax built up on it over a month (moon cycle) burning becomes an issue anyhow. Since it represents the house in the astral realm, i think it would be a nice touch to bury it at the house after you move in. You do what feels right to you.

Washing a candle with plain soap & cool water or by wiping it clean with a damp soapy paper towel & rinse is to activly remove dust, finger prints and physical energy residue from prior handling. It gives you a clean slate to work with. Be sure it's completly dry before using it. Try to keep a spell simple & focus on using just one magical function. I think your could forget the room cleansing and reiki for the moment because you may be scattering your attention, focus & energy.

See the EUTM spells section post "Simple Spells" for info on how to set an intention in a candle. Edit: I've copied it below, but feel free to browse, of course.

Usually candles aren't re-used from spell to spell. Throw your old candle out & start again with a fresh one, building on top of the paper you've already started; why waste it? Use green or substitute white if you cant find green. Simply wash or wipe a new candle clean. Psychically charge the candle to set your intention as explained in "simple spells" and then use this new and charged candle to build the foundation.

It's optional of you want to do it all at once - using up the whole candle in one waxy dripping session - or if you want to add a little every day. You always get to tweak a spell to make it your own. If you opt for doing it once then you could use a 4"-6" candle.

You are always free at all times to switch to another form of spell if the one you tried isn't catching your imagination.

Let us know when you move in

I've copied the "simple spells" activation info below. It's just one method of many & is simple, non hocus pocus & gets the job done.

SIMPLE SPELL ACTIVATION

All spells draw on the four powers of a witch - to know, to will, to dare & to be silent - and everything else is the method used, the eye candy that helps us focus on the goal, and method is determined by what we have on hand to use. Our intent changes but the activation formula stays the same. We set our intent in every spell we do, & one simple, all-purpose method to set your intention & activate a spell is:

1. Warm up by swinging your arms forward & back. Belly-breathe & center to light the fire in the belly.
2. Know your goal - to attract something, to repel something or to bind & hold something in place.
3. Claim your intent by speaking it with present-tense phrases like "I have" & never "I need". *
4. Rub your hands together so they tingle; set the intention by pushing the thought energy of that desire from the fire in your belly & out thru your hands & intense gaze into the item used to hold the spell, ie the candle.

Belly-breathing is inhaling so as to raise the abdominal muscles first, then the upper chest, followed by full exhale. Centering is to pull your power into your solar-plexus, the seat of the will. And fire-in-the-belly is focussed intention.

@SB82 *present tense wording like " We have the house that meets all our needs" using "we" & "our" includes your housemate. If it's just you then use "I & my".

General Idea:

Candle spells suit any goal because Fire transforms & changes which suits spells to a tee. You can use any type of candle you have. The candle is the fuel for the flame. An all-purpose, white taper candle is fine or color code to a goal. Etch the goal or a name on the candle with a pin. Rub 3 dabs of olive oil in your palms then roll the candle between your oiled hands as you state your intent 3 times. The oil seals your intention to the candle & olive lends properties of "fruitful" success. Stand the candle in it's holder & cup your hands around it. Focus your intense witchy gaze on the candle. Deep breathe & push the fire in the belly into the candle to set your intention. Your candle is now prepared so light the wick and sit quietly while focussing on the flame for a few minutes; gaze softly until you are aware only of the flame, then give THANKS to the Powers because the spell is already fulfilled upon the Ethers and you KNOW this with a certainty. This is the heart of the spell & uses the witch-power "to know" a thing is so.

It's best to let the candle burn completely (if this is a one-sitting spell) while you do other things yet keep an eye on it for safety. If you can't hang around then use a faster birthday cake candle standing in softened wax on a plate. If it is a multiple-sitting spell, extinguish your candle at the appropriate time & re-light for the next sitting. You can dispose of candle stubs or tea light tins in the trash.

@SB82: Just prep the candle, set your intent & say thanks once, then use that empowered candle to build the square in your spell.

I did try visualising like you'd described, imagining the both of us in our new place, happy with it being everything we needed, although I tried not to imagine any specific details (like, I don't know, it having a particular wall colour) at least I did the best I could while holding a lit candle and trying to drip the wax a certain way! :-D The visualising was more before/after, and focusing on the square, repeating in my head what we needed while dripping the wax, with some visualising of me searching and finding the new place.

But I wish the spell had been more specific about preparing the candle and what to do with the spell afterward like you'd said, I had read about preparing items but I think because the spell didn't say to do it I didn't think about it? Which was careless of me I know. But I will try the new candle spell, I'm guessing if I wanted to try finding a place for just my housemate I'd use she/her or her name in the wording? With time moving on one of the options might be getting a place for her and me staying with my parents, just to get us moved quicker, if I can't find somewhere for the both of us. Thanks so much for all your advice and I'll update with any results. ^_^
