Scenting your candles.

Let's hear what you think about this.

If you were making white candles, to use in celebrating the Goddess, and added a scent to them, would it ruin the purity of it, or not? Does adding a scent, or scents, to a candle to be used for a ritual help it, harm it, or do nothing?

I've used scented candles as a combo altar light, incense, deity & fire symbol all in one with good effect.

I feel the oils used should be essential for them to be really effective. Sure scented oils might enhance your work because your intent was there but there are real energies from the plants from which they are derived in an essential oil.

Scent is a major trigger for most humans. The scent alone can transport you into a proper ritual headspace, can bring up memories and thoughts of something you wish to invoke, or can even bring up bad memories as the case may be. Scent can be a very powerful tool in witchcraft and ritual. But, if you worry about the scent ruining the candle, that can affect your thoughts and outcomes, as well.

I don't use scented candles. Since I use incense or essential oils and fragrances separately. But I think so, it increases the energy.
