Candleless Rituals/Spells

I currently live in halls at university where they have strict rules against candles and incense and I've just discovered my acommadation for next year has similar rules.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to do rituals or spells without candles or incense?

My main ideas were using statues to represent the god and goddess rather than candles and making more use of coloured altar clothes and such to help with spells.

Its not the candles or the incence, its you! and your energy, no problem you cannot use candles, use whatever you are allowed to, let your mind free and see what best fits you! :)

I do like my props though.

I find it much easier to get into the spirit of things with a bit of fire around.

There is no way that you could sneak a candle into your dorm?

Sadly not, its more that it would set off the fire alarm as all the rooms haves thier own fire alarms that are weirdly sensitive. Also they can evict me for it so I'd rather not risk it.

I was thinking of using oils rather than incense just without being able to put a candle in the burner bit.

If you have a room heater (those that are attached on the wall) you can put a few drops of aromatic oil on a napkin and place it on the heater and the soft warmth wil bring out the aroma.
I love candles myself, they bring about an atmosphere:D Your idea of using statues instead of candles is very good.
most of the spells i do include candles:(
you could substitute incense with oil as you said above , rub it on your wrists to add the scent. if a spell asks for you to burn paper or somethign why not do it someplace outside, a balcony or the beach. spells on the beach are pretty strong, the sound of waves is awesome!

if you decide to do that you should use cotton wool or something to make the scent more potent

LED battery candles, which are also called "flameless" candles, come in different colors, as tea lights, pillars & taper styles. Use them for your altar lights. Some have timers - use them for spell candles too. Instead of dressing the candle, anoint a petition or sigil paper & place it under the 🕯.

Replace incense with a reed oil diffuser or aerosol mist. You can brew up your own herbal aerosol blend & put it in a spray bottle (dorms have kitchenettes, right?) The ingredients of Bigelow Constant Comment tea banishes negativity. You could use other herbs associated with Air. Refer to Cunningham's Magical Herb Encyclopedia. It's ok to substitute if the symbolism fits. In magic the symbol is as real as the thing itself :D

As for candlel-less spells, there are cord/knot, sigil, petition, bottle, herb-packet, charm-bag, mandala/grid layouts, powders & potions, poppet, stone-stroking, talismans. Air & Fire are the active elements that activate conditions; earth & water are passive & pacify conditions.

Look in the spell section. It's loaded with how-to ideas.
