Need help with understanding a dream

Before, I describe the dream I feel like I need to give a little background into the situation. At the beginning of the year I started talking to and fell pretty hard for a guy, we had went to highschool together and 18yrs later we reconnected and finally remet. We spent the night hanging out, but about 24 hours later he told me that because of his anxiety issues(he does have severe anxiety and ptsd) he couldn't handle being in a relationship. So, we haven't spoken in a month, but even though I have tried to let him go, I still feel connected to him. Also, since I've been on my new medications I don't remember my dreams anymore so remembering this one surprised me.
On to the dream:

Him and I are in front of a big window, everything is peaceful and calm and the world outside was bright. He had his head in my lap, and I was touching his arm, and we were just there looking out at all this snow, and I can't really hear him but he thanks me for something, but I can't hear what because it sounds so far away, but I think maybe for taking care of me, and he sits up, and kisses me, and everything feels like home, and I wake up.

It seemed like a very short dream. The night before I prayed to the Gods that I needed to let him go, but I felt like I couldn't, that I didn't want to.

Was this a goodbye dream or was it a its not really over dream?
My current situation is I live 100 miles from him , in the upstairs of an exes house so I am sure that didn't help his anxiety.

My gut feeling is stalemate. You both gaze on a peaceful place. You are IN a peaceful place of acceptance. He thanks you for accepting his limitation and being willing to let go. You can have a peaceful relationship only if you make no claims on him. Since that doesn't seem very satisfying, I call that a stalemate.

So it may not be either of your options at all, but only an assessment of the state you've reached in coming to terms with the difficulty.
