Self Love Spell

This is a rewritten version of a spell I did once when I was in need of doing some magical self work. I was having issues with self love and self acceptance. So I designed this ritual to invoke feelings of self love and worth. As I am a woman the materials in this spell reflect my feminine sense of beauty and sexiness. Men can adapt this spell to work with their routines as well.

This spell actually piggy backs on the Daily Cleansing shower spell that I posted here

Materials:
Any lotions or sprays that you apply after the shower or bath
Any makeup you have
Any beauty supplies you have (brushes, hair clips, etc)
Any perfume
Soap
Water

Spell:
Gather together all your beauty supplies and place them on the bathroom sink.

Cast a circle in the bathroom so that the entire room becomes your sacred space.

Follow the instructions for the Daily Cleansing spell

Exit the shower and dry off.

Go to the counter which is now acting as your altar.

Place your hands over the items and state

"Beauty within and beauty without
I bless these items to remove self doubt"

See a soft pink light forming around the items and around you.

Take the lotion and start to apply it to your body. As you apply the lotion to your body empower yourself with feelings of personal love and gratification. Hug and caresses yourself lovingly and passionately like you wish someone else would touch you lovingly and passionately. As you touch and caress yourself state:

"Love within, love without
I love Myself without doubt"

Repeat the above process with the application of additional lotions, perfumes, body sprays, and powders.

As you apply the makeup start the chant being louder and more confident.

When the makeup is on and your hair has been brushed, all while continuing the pink light and self love chant look at your reflection in the mirror.

State:

"I am loved. Love is all around me. Where ever I go love abounds".

Know you are loved by yourself.

Release the circle and put away the items used.

Note:

Now any time you use those items, if you apply the self love chant the spell will be reinforced and more positive self love energy will come your way.

Very loving, loona wynd, thank you for posting. The struggles that a couple of courageous girls on the board had the guts to share with us this week certainly have reminded us about the importance of self-love (no matter what age or gender we may be). I believe it may be safe to say their struggles touched all our hearts.

Thanks again, loona wynd. May we all learn to love ourselves, love others around us, and bring more love into the world at large (it would definitely cut down on the poltergeists, and other nasties floatin' around!)

Both spells were actually written at different times. However in order for the invocation of self love to work effectively one needs to be cleansed of their personal self doubt and anxiety issues, if only for the moment of casting the spell. That is why I mention that the cleansing spell should be done before.

Eventually after performing this spell enough I got to the point where just saying the chant would bring out the charged energetic forces of self love. Words and phrases can be major triggers for mental health improvement as well as for magical and ritual work.

That is one of the reasons I posted this spell. I have seen several new threads pop up in the mental health forum dealing with issues of self love and self acceptance in some way shape or form. I thought that if I posted a spell I have used time and time again for helping boost my self esteem and self worth I might be able to give some of those girls an idea of something they can do to try and help themselves while to do the hard work.

While I know magic is not the only answer to dealing with these issues and mental health problems, I do know from personal experience that doing some magical work can aid in the process and help move things along quicker. I would never suggest a person just use magic to deal with these issues. More I would suggest that it be used along side treatment with therapists and doctors.

Most therapists and doctors I have worked with encourage a person to do spiritual work as a part of the treatment, and many are at least familiar with some of the concepts and philosophies involved in magic. Most of the early big names in modern magical traditions actually started off as psychologists so there are connections there. They at least understand the power of thought and the powers of the mind. So in that sense this ritual is a perfect balance as it uses ritual actions and positive affirmations to create the link between magic and the mind.

While I don't buy into the whole everything should always be all love and light philosophy, I do agree that in general if people have a better appreciation for themselves as things are and their lives as they are the world would be a better place. The society we live in makes that very difficult to do. The society we live in is one of the reasons so many men and women have issues with self love, self acceptance, self esteem, and self worth. This little spell is one way I have found I can combat the media and become accepting of myself.

I have found that if we are more accepting of ourselves and more comfortable with ourselves its easier to accept other people for who they are and as such more peace is gained.

Ok. I know it was a powerful aid in my healing struggles. Living with mental illness (yes I struggle with mental health issues and I have been hospitalized for them in the past *8 years ago now*) I know that healing is a constant thing for me. Most of my spiritual and magical work has been towards healing work. Its not a replacement for therapy or medications (in therapy and on medications) but when used in conjunction with therapy and medication magic can boost the effects of medication and therapy and can help on days when even the meds or therapy dont seem to be working.

I strongly believe that all healing work needs a mental aspect, a physical aspect, and a spiritual aspect. For myself the mental aspect is taken care of in cognitive therapy and in my skills based therapy. The physical aspect of my mental health is maintained through visits with my psychiatric Nurse practitioner. The spiritual side is taken care of with magic and ritual work. None of them should be used over the other. A balance of sorts between the three needs to be found for every person.

As a spiritual healer and advocate of natural health, I also speak with a language understood by people folks who are in touch with their inner selves. I have long held the view that the source or origin of any disease is "dis-ease." The lack of and the absence of ease disheartens and distracts one’s inner balance.

Today, I am noticing that some allopathic doctors are now catching up with natural healing arts and has discovered commonalities in their modalities against dis-ease.

So today, mental therapy (for mind), meditations (for soul), etc. is now better known as complementary medicine. The idea is that complementary medicine is so constructed to actually complement existing conventional ways of curing dis-ease.

We are holistic beings made up of body, mind and spirit. Therefore, if we heal the body, the mind must be addressed, too, as well as the spirit. Looking for what distress the body unconsciously and spontaneously requires an investigation on what distress the mind and spirit.

And this is completely what "true wellness" is all about -- the balance and harmony of all three aspects of being human.

In my healing services, I offer complementary medicine. First, I make a holistic case study of the patient by knowing and researching his/her history and total personality. Then the patient, parents, close relatives and/or friends attend a group counseling session. This includes exploring the psychological reasons for the certain dis-ease. I support and help the patient understand what is needed to be done physically, mentally and spiritually to get rid of the causes of illness.
