An easy methed of spell building uses the 4 physical Elements. Each has related tasks, color & easily found herbs (ref.
Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs). Use this short list for your future candle spells:
Air - yellow; thought, mental activity; marjoram, mint, sage
Fire - red; vitality & partnerships; bay, basil, rosemary
Water - blue; emotions & psychic activity; lemon, rose, thyme
Earth - green; home, prosperity; barley, oats, wheat
Yellow is associated with the element Air which relates to thought & mental activity. Thus a yellow candle can be used to work a candle spell for an intention of mental clarity that you mentioned. Also, the scent of mint clears the mind & mint relates to the Air element. Grocery stores sell fresh mint in the produce isle & dried mint & mint oil in the baking isle. Use herbs, oil or both to "dress" a candle.
A candle spell is very simple to do. It's important to have a clear idea of your goal. Use present-tense words, saying X
is thus &'so, not it will be. Example: "(name)'s mind is clear & working well; clarity is hers with this spell." Use your own words.
. Inscribe your friend's name &' the intention "clarity" on the yellow candle.
. Rub the candle with either mint oil (clarity) or olive oil (victory) to hold the psychic charge.
. Place the candle in the candleholder.
. Place herbs around the base if you use them.
. Set your intention by cupping your hands around the candle & pushing power from the belly into the candle as you state your intent.
. light the candle & gaze calmly at the flame until the flame is all you see. Relax &
know the task is done.
Knowing feels like a psychic hunch.
. Give thanks to the Powers that the task is done.
. Let the candle burn completely while you do other things.
. Dispose of the leftover wax & herbs in the trash. They've done their job.
