A work in progress..

Our altar is made from the first coffee table I ever built. Was going to sell the table after I built it, but nobody wanted it. So we kept it. Maybe there is a reason for that!

When we moved to out current home, the table fell off the trailer and broke. I had plans to fix it and use it for our altar, but it sat in the front bedroom waiting for the last 9 months. We recently made a place for it in the living room, and yesterday, I pulled it out to fix it.

The material I used to cover it is what remained from the material I used to make the bag I keep my Tarot cards in. It seemed "fitting" that the remaining purple fabric was the perfect size for the table. It wasn't planned that way...just happened to work out. Perhaps a reason for that as well!

I made the wand this past spring, and thats a small piece of rose quarts in the front of the white candle.

Just in time for Samhain!!

Very nice Phoenix. I find that the finest things on the altar are those which 'come' to us.

Nice! What kind of wood is your wand? Is it native to your area? As a wandmaker, I am very interested in what other folks find and use...

My wand is made from a branch of my hackberry tree. It's the only tree in my yard, but a nice shade tree. It is also wrapped with copper wire, with a larger winding for my hand, a smaller winding at the tip, and a double helix in between, one direction one way, and the other direction the other way, so that energy can flow in both directions.

We have Hackberry here, some call it Beaverwood. Not sure why, never seen a beaver near one, nor have I ever used it for a wand. I must seek it and see what I can do with it. The copper winding is interesting, maybe incorporate a quartz or hematite crystal for power amplification and focus.

I do plan to add a crystal when I find one that has the "right" energy for me. Not sure what kind, but I'll know when I find it. It could well be that little piece of rose quarts on the altar now. When it hits me, I'll know!

That's really cool. Did you use paint and stencil or a router? Either way it is a fine execution and addition.

Thank you! I printed out what I wanted and transferred it with carbon paper, then used a Dremel to etch it out. Enamel paint for the lettering, sand, a quick burn with a torch, and polyurethane. Same way I did the rest of the table (aside from lettering and such).

I'm in love!! And awe! I adore your altar.
I love all the personal energy involved. It's the ideal size too, how awesome.
I'd love to see how your altar changes with the seasons, if you do continue to take photos of it in the future. :)

Thank you...I sure will take more pics. There are more things I want to get/make for it. I'm pressed for cash right now, so it will be a little at a time, but it will get there. Next idea for it is a small box from reclaimed wood that I'll use for my sage. And when I have a better book for my BOS, I'll keep it there as well. Right now, it's just a simple binder, but I want something much nicer later.

Hope everyone had a blessed Samhain! Love and light to all!
