Helping a spirit cross

Greetings!

After a Samhain ritual honoring the forgotten dead, I believe that something went wrong and a spirit may have stuck around and is now somehow stuck in my home. There were some hand prints on a window in the bird room at the front of my house. I thought perhaps it was children peeking in to look at some of my parrots. I went outside to scrub clean the windows and to my surprise the hand prints were on the inside between the two panels. But no one had opened those windows as it is in my bird room and they were children size hands and we don't have any children. Nor do I have any children who come to visit my home. I have also seen these strange shadows moving through out my home and when sitting on my couch I felt something poking at me. It seems to want to leave but I have some protective charms and spells on my property that I think could be preventing it. But I really don't want to take them all down and have to go through all the trouble of redoing them all.

I know that you can use sage to help cleanse your house, but that requires going to every room and I have various parrots and I can't burn that because it is harmful to birds. (I've had to do all my cleansing with sage outside so far) So is there an alternative? If anyone can help me that would be great. I really want to help get the spirit back to where it belongs. It really seems to want my help.

The only thing I can think of is give thought to that Samhain ritual you had already done and what you said that brought the spirit to your home; recast your circle and reverse whatever invitation you made. At that point, ask your guardian spirit to escort them to where they belong.

Ive read that a broom can be used to transfer a spirit to another location, but not how. Intent is the master, so I imagine you'd go through the motions of sweeping the place like sweeping cobwebs, repeating aloud that you are "sweeping, sweeping, sweeping up spirits" and then take the broom outside, down wind & off premises to shake it out, towards the west, and give a firm command to any spirit to go where it belongs. For good measure, id still ask guardians to escort it. Avoid phrases like "go back where you came from" because that's telling it to go back to your house where you've just come from. Your mind has to be convinced it is real just while you're going through the motions.

You might want to tell the spirit that you would like to assist it in completing its journey, and that you apologize for any part you had in trapping it. I think enlisting its help and cooperation will make the process easier.

As stupid as it sounds telling spirits to go into the light to pass over does work, or has for me, anyway. I would suggest grounding and asking your guardian before you do anything of that nature though.

If your protections and wards are all set you can make an exit. You set them so you can modify them and then fully reclose them afterwards. Engage the spirits attention and advise it that you will open a way for it to continue it's journey beyond the enclave of your protected space. Engage your spirit guide, guardian spirit or deity to escort and assist the spirit. Make your front door a one way exit by casting a modification on it. The same way with your front gate, driveway, etcetera. Thank the spirit for it's visit, inform it that it's time to leave since like all honored guests there comes a time to leave and ask your escort to help it safely on it's way. Check to make sure the spirit has left. Your still safe because you had to start inside your protected space to use the two egress points you have opened. When your sure the Spirit has left, simply adjust your wards and protections.
I'm sure the method works. A friends daughter had a slumber party and one of the kids brought over a Ouija board. Becky's daughter had been using a board with her mom that I had warded and protected years before. She knew how to effectively use a board and didn't think twice about it. She was twelve and it was just a board. Becky didn't find out what had happened until after the fact. You guessed it, when two very confused spirits started raising he!! looking for a way to leave. She could have cleared them herself or have gotten somebody from her coven to do it but, I do all this kind of thing for people in "Bobbies" coven. We've got a history together even though I'm only an "honorary" coven member. Just go about it with the same care you'd give any other working and you should get excellent results.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! I have gone through and read all your helpful ideas and I am thinking it over which one will work best for me. I like what SpiritTalker said about going back to the ritual I did. I'm not sure though as it was a Samhain ritual, so would be as powerful without it being the right time of year? I like your idea as well Planewalker. Everyone actually had some good points and ideas so it is a lot to think about. There's been some strange occurrences since I reached out for help. It seems to be mostly happening in the bird room. One of my parrots got pretty spooked today. I may try one of the techniques tonight if I have time because the birds are getting so stressed and I know the spirit is stressed as well. I just don't want to make matters worse for it. Thank you so much for the help!

It might be advisable to ground yourself and draw a sphere of protection around yourself. It doesn't sound like these spirits would "jump you" but I go by "There are OLD users of the Craft. There are BOLD users of the Craft. There are no OLD, BOLD users of the Craft.". I didn't get to have a rep for clearing, cleansing and banishing by being sloppy about the details. Go into the birdroom when your birds seem spooked and just sit down, be still for a few moments. Get a feel for the energy that is out of place so you can direct comments to that energy signature. Just tell the spirit that you are working to open the way {if your comfortable with the Egyptian pantheon you could seek help from Anubis, the opener of the way of the dead} for it to continue on it's journey and to please be patient. Tell it you mean it no harm and that your very sorry for the inconvienece. This may greatly calm the entity(s) that was inadvertently trapped. It may not even be a human spirit. I had a case that I used the above stated actions to calm an entity that I got the feeling was more interdimentional. Someone who had lived in the house had done some "interesting" working and had a set of wards and protections that were complex and convaluted. The house had been calm. Nothing had changed {ownership, construction, new family member or pet}. Spit hadn't even changed in the neighborhood. Still, something got caught and started raising he!!. It took a while to safely open things up.
