Witches: A century of murders

I started watching this new docu series on netflix about the witch hunt in the British Isles 400 years ago and WOW! It's intense and hard to watch in some parts. The torture devices they used to use on these poor women are extremely disturbing. How there's a book written about how to find and kill witches.All because King James I was paranoid that the devil was going to kill him (and that witches were the devils advocate) I knew about accused witches being killed ect but this has really opened up my eyes.

Has anyone else seen this series? I highly recommend it.

This makes me think of that quote "We are the granddaughters of the witches you weren't able to burn" :flyingwitch:

I have that quote one written on my literature notebook. You can't imagine how many funny faces I receive because of it, but the "secret" is still not out, which is good.

Thanks for recommending the documentary!

I haven't decided if I want to watch this yet. It's been in my list since it came to netflix. Still not sure. I'm fairly sensitive and that's alot of negativity for me to take in. I usually steer clear of such things. I know about some of those torture practices and they are absolutely horrid.

Things did happen, witches got murdered....

Yet that is not new, nor did the witch, or the Witchcraft ,
come from that time, or location...;)

Many moons before, in Africa, Meso - America, India,
Greece, the Middle East, the Island Culture , this was
done...sometimes in the name of righteous genocide was
this done where magical based cultures were wiped out...

Were you aware, in Hebrew, the word for witch ,"Kesaph"
meant poisoner ?

He knew that, and truthfully, the hedge witch was famous for
working with all kinds of herbs, some deadly...

As well, there was a code the King's were taught...

In that code, the mother / goddess / woman's column = 603
(by number value of the symbols)

In Qabalah, every word has a number value...

Deamonn (later Demon , yet Plato's Daemon) are the sounds
of the last two symbols in the column...

Dea Monn = 12

+

She = 16

Will = 30

Kill = 208

+

Poison = 338

= 604

(Blood = 604) , as well...

And :

Wietches (Old Spelling) = 288

Kill = 208

Us = 57

All = 50

= 603

So, he was just one more indoctrinated by using
the Wietches' Code against them...

Yet, later, came along the king, who was dancing
unknowingly at the ball, with the Queen Of Wietches...

Her garter fell off her leg, when she was dancing...

It was a green snakeskin garter...worn by the Queen
and High Priestess of the Wietches of England...

Everyone stopped dancing, and froze, because they
knew what it meant...the nobles and upper crust...

He picked it up, slid it up her leg, and continued dancing...

And urged all to do the same, meaning the Wietches were
protected by the crown of England ( human "fox" hunting , was over )...

And thus was born the Royal Order Of The Garter, in royalty,
as well a grade in Masonic Temples, to this day...

Not saying it was not terrible...it is, whenever any culture kills those
they do not understand, thus fear, and whose leaders and people are
trained into that thoughtframe, by any who have, by the nature of the
human species, taken over power from those who had been in power before...

The romantic idea of the witch, seen through the eyes of modern day Wiccan
beliefs, where the Harm None, or Witch's Creed, is espoused, was not the true
idea of the Witch thru time...that is relatively recent , and still not espoused by
many practicing Witchcraft today, around the world...

Thus, that added to the fear of the Wietch / Witch , and Witchcraft , in the
populace, and again, if one looks around the world, still prevalent today...

One must take into account, things just as small, call them memes...

Where today some say the world is illusion...

Yet the Witch says it is enchantment...

To someone who believes the world is illusion, and best to be dealt with
and make the best of it, on the physical plane, then go on to better things ,
the idea of a world of enchantment, all around them, *can* be frightening...

Or it becomes a "holy war", and in the name of gods and goddesses...

Very often, these television programs, and movies, do not know all the truth
underneath the situation, and go for sensationalism...look at who in the Pagan
community, they interview, and get to speak for us...very often , the worst
examples of the *true* Witchcraft, for one reason or another...

By the way, I have seen the torture devices used...I have known people who
collected them, as strange as that may sound...and I did not stay long, in the
room they were in...the psychic energy, embedded in the devices, is a force
and can, and is, directed by some...leave it at that...;)

However, two mother columns, plus symbols which go around them, equal 1318...

Let us see if someone knew the code...

Iron = 327

Maiden = 60

Torture = 534

Device = 117

+

Wietch = 281

= 1319

Hmmm...just maybe...

Funny...same column, makes an athame, by shape going one direction
fitting the symbols together...going the other way...they make the shape
of the sword...some live by the athame...some by the sword, so to speak...

( By the way, the "Father" column *can* add up to Yehoshua, not Yeshua...)
The Hebrew name for Joshua, or Jesus...but that is another part of the story...

So again...no one person, yet we have, and do persist to exist...

***Read "The Witchcraft" by Jack Parson's, from "Freedom Is A Double Edged Sword"...

I shall try to find it...and post it...

We have been here, since the beginning...we shall be here, when this earth ends...

We are not going away...for without the Magic(k) and Craft...this world shall seem dead...

And, by our mother earth's blood...this is not the Truth...;)

@Bychan it's a great quote! and very empowering
No worries hun, let me know if you end up watching it :)

@Twilight oh I totally understand. I am pretty sensitive too and honestly I had to mute it at parts and look away. I understand if you can't bring yourself to watch it. It's truly heart wrenching.

@Shadow thanks for all the info! The docu covers a lot of those kind of facts. How the king wrote a handbook on demonology and people followed it to a T. They really thought witches were the devils advocate. I find it ironic that they were accused of being evil, yet what the accusers put those women through was evil in it's purest form. Thanks for the article, I will give it a read!

I've been interested in watching this! I really like documentaries for the most part and have considering getting Netflix to watch this and a few other shows (yeah... I really don't have Netflix...)

@Smogie I love documentaries, too! I caved last year and got netflix and in all honesty it is pretty lame. Over here in Aus we don't have even half of the titles that the U.S have so I don't watch it much (not a huge tv watcher) but the kids like watching a movie on the weekend and some extremely annoying kid shows ;)

I wonder if this series is available anywhere else? Maybe do a google search? I am pretty sure it only has two one-hour episodes.

I watched this show on Netflix, yet was disappointed with it. It says one season of it, but there's only two episodes.... Is that just on netflix, or do more episodes exist for the show? It was a great show, but you can't cover a topic like this in just
two episodes.

What is the series called? If you've seen any other movies/shows about this, I'd love to hear your recommendations.
That quote is very beautiful and empowering!
