I am reading a book about Romany (gypsy) magick and i was just wandering whether anybody on this board has ever tried any Romany magick. :) If you have i would be extremely grateful if you would tell about it and whether or not it worked.

Hey. Romany magic is my specific interest, though I mix it with Paganism.
Basically the new moon is the most powerful time in Romany magick. The Drabhani is a Roma medicine woman or herbalist and is not to be confused with the witch or Chovexani. Traditionally wiccan witches and gypsies have alwasy been closer than other gaje (non gypsies) because they were often in hiding or outcast from society and they knew they could trust gypsies better (who were also often persecuted). If you are interested, I posted a Romany-based spell on the Healing board under the topic 'Depression'. Amari De or Devel (sometines pronounced Duvel or among Russian Rom, De Develski) are the words for the god and the moon goddess (Amari De). They have a strong tradition of godess worship. Among the wild traditional camps girls would dance on the new moon, praying for love and fortune to the moon godess, sometimes tearing of their clothes and raising their hands to the sky--this was a sign of piety. According to linguists, the gypsy word for god was turned into the english word "devil", which was the Christian way of demonising any other god that was not christian and giving it evil qualities. This term was also applied to the 'old Gods' of pre-christian Pagan worship. A curse is an armaya and a spell or charm is a Draba. I became interested in the practice through a Rom friend and have learnt a little of the language. Best of baxt!

When I was young my friends mother would frighten us with the tales of
De Develski, How he was the heathen god of our ansestors and how he killed new borns. That is kind of ironic to me that you guys would be talking about it.
