Everything Under the Moon

Some of my herbs are coming back already.
My oregano looks healthy.
My Thyme looks really good.
My kitchen sage stayed green all winter and now my long sage is sprouting (far enough away from my kitchen sage).
Even my rosemary, has sprouted green leaves at the base of two branches. I was almost certain it had been killed off by winter.
I'll have to replant sweet basil. Don't remember if it is supposed to come back or not but it is not coming back.

Now a new plant has popped up between my Long Sage, and my Thyme...

Last year I had another herb, and I started them in trays and they never sprouted. I thought I had killed the seeds. I can't remember what that herb was, but when the seeds didn't sprout, I took the sprout trays and dumped them into the space between my sage and thyme. This is precisely where this plant is growing and growing rather well for still having frost last week.

I can't figure it out.

I was gonna say parsley but it wasn't quite right. This is aethusa also known as "fools parsley".

Does it have scent?

This is chervil. Also known as "French parsley".

So I've been looking around and this is a very familiar plant, does it have a flower? And what does it smell like?

If per chance it is in the carrot family, know for sure what it is. This plant family has a couple toxic varieties, hemlock being the most well known.

I think it is in the chrysanthemum family.

It doesn't currently have any flowers.

It does have a smell that is mildly lemony/savory. It definitely smells "herby".

I know that I didn't buy any parsley seeds of any kind. I'll have to search through my social media from last year and see if I can find where I talked about what I planted and what didn't make it.

No luck.

But I found another of the same plant, growing along my fence on the other side of the yard. So I'm guessing it's not some herb I planted.

I left the one by the fence, but pulled the one from my herb garden. That space is reserved, the other little guy can have the yard.

Finally identified this plant.
It's "Sweet Annie"...Artemisia absinthium...Wormwood.

Wow, well now I would really like to see it again,...but, the photo you posted Hopeful, isn't visible anymore, could you renew them or maybe possibly put a pic of it now. Thanks!

Can we re-visit this?
The plant Katrinkah posted looks so similar to hemlock and it apparently is in the same family. So it would be good to differentiate your plant from hemlock.
Artemisia is a super great plant to have on your property, a witches favorite!
