You can also teach them meditation, this will enable them to calm theirselves down. Of course, ADHD kids aren't eager to sit still and concentrate but there is no need to do that. The only thing they need to learn is how to control their brainwaves and you can do this with computer games that are specifically for ADHD kids and use an electroencephalograph (if you are good in technics you can construct one for about 200$). You can look up a specialist in your area and ask if they have such a programm and how much it would cost.

My youngest son has ADHD. Our doctor recently suggested having him try fish oil pills. The DHA in it is suppose to really help them mentally. It is too soon for me to say how it is working for us, but figured I would pass that along. The health food store has some that are chewable and flavored specifically for kids...They arent that bad...better for little guys to swallow if they dont want to chew cause they are smaller then the big pills they have for adults....Anyways good luck.

I have tried teaching meditation but they are also Autistic...the 10yr old being an Aspie he is learning but it is slow work:( and the 9 yr old is more severly autistic she is much harder to work with :(

Hey star,
I was reading about indigo and crystal children, and I was wondering if you had tried this approach with your children? Who knows, I could be far off base, but is says that many of these indigo and crystal children are diagnosed with adhd or add, and some are often diagnosed with autism.

California poppy is great and its non-addictive! It should help calm them a little. Also, letting them play until they poop out works ^.^ (its not the opium poppy) Some other plants are: Ginkgo Biloba, Scuttelaria (also known as Skullcap), German Chamomile, Gotu Kola, Avena Sativa (Oatstraw), Rooibos, Lemon Balm, Valerian, Lobelia, and Hawthorn.

Thank you so much....I am looking into all of these great ideas..we have an appointment in 2 weeks so will also talk to their doctor...I love him, for an older doctor he is very forward thinking and supports my wishes to use natural remedies:)
Love and Blessings to all of you who have replied:)

Thats a great doctor. Most doctors would be against herbal remedies because they want to make money from prescriptions. I would love your doctor to be my child's doctor!

I’d hesitate to suggest anything to be ingested as we don’t know what medications the doctors have prescribed and how any herbal remedies might interact with those prescriptions.

You probably already know this but one of the best helps to you would be to have a routine and to be really consistent when it comes to correcting inappropriate behavior. It can be awfully hard sometimes because the world simply won’t stop and wait while you do what you need to do for your kids sometimes, but still give it your best shot.

Visual reminders of the good things that can happen when they make good choices can help. For example if there is some special thing they want make it clear to them that getting that thing they want is contingent upon a day/week of good behavior. If their issues are really severe you might even think in terms of hours instead of days.

Just get a picture of whatever item you’ve mutually decided on as their reward and then get some stickers and put a sticker on the picture every time they manage to go an hour/day without inappropriate behavior. When they have earned the requisite number of stickers they get the goodies! Everybody wins and everybody is happy.

It is really important not to skip the visual aid part, you really need the picture or drawing, or whatever you’re using as a reminder. If they’re starting to get out of hand have them stop what they are doing and look at the picture and it will help. If you’re not at home you could put it in one of those plastic sleeves and take it with you when you go out so that you always have it and they can always hold it and touch it and connect with it.

Good Luck!
