Vervain's Photos

Postby Vervain » Sun Nov 03, 2013 6:09 pm

To be clear, very few if any of the pictures I post will be pictures I TOOK. They are pictures OF me rather than BY me, although I was obviously heavily involved in the process of creating them, and I do have the right to post and share these photos. Most if not all of the editing will be by me, as I am one of the (apparently very rare?) models who prefers to edit her own photos.

I wanted to show you guys this fun gif I made today with the photos I just got back from a shoot a few months ago.

I'll share a few more photos from this shoot in a sec.

Forgot to mention! All of these photos in the river were taken by Jeff Cantrell.

This is one of my favorite shoots I've done... unfortunately I cannot share many of my favorites on here because this is an all-ages message board and many people seem to think that artistic nudity is not all-ages-appropriate, especially when it's of a real human being from the 21st century. I'm working on getting my modeling website up and running, though, so I will post that for anyone who's curious about my work when I have it ready.

I'd like to share a shoot I did yesterday, also with Jeff Cantrell, of my Dia de los Muertos getup:

I actually made the skirt, the shirt (under the corset), and all the hairpieces that I am wearing in this shoot.
I always do my own makeup.
Feliz Dia de los Muertos!

Riffing on Dia de los Muertos, here is my getup from 2 years ago--I also dressed up/did makeup last year, but didn't do a photoshoot for it. :) These photos are by Liam Blackrose, edits by me.

I love the ones you did at the river! They remind me strongly of both Ophelia from Hamlet and Tennyson's Lady of Shalott. Beautiful!

And your make-up skills rock! You're so artistic. :)

They're all beautiful and very atmospheric. The river ones are my favourite too.

I actually did a few looks yesterday, so here's some of the Film Noir-esque stuff Jeff and I shot...

I actually sewed the dress in these shots! It's from a vintage 1940s pattern, but I forget which one... :/

I love the 1940s. Thinking of making some clothes from that era too. You're so photogenic

And my favorite set from yesterday, my yukata!
Yukata is similar to kimono, except that yukata is made of cotton instead of silk, and is only intended for summer wear. Japanese house robes are also called yukata, but this is a yukata intended for wearing out and about. I had to learn to tie the obi myself (which was very intimidating!), and how to tie up the yukata--it looks like a top over a skirt, but the part where it bubbles is actually a fold--this is how yukata and kimono can be nearly one size fits all, because a) Japanese people are mostly the same size and b) depending on your height, you just change how much you fold over the yukata at the waist to make it right length. I purchased this yukata and obi in Miyajima.

DISCLAIMER: My skin is not this smooth and clear and beautiful in real life. This is the magic of Lightroom 5.

Thank you, Altairtigris! To be fair, though, it's not necessarily that I'm photogenic--I've been modeling for nearly four years now, so I've had a lot of practice in front of the camera trying to figure out what looks good and what doesn't--and STILL out of every photoshoot I get something like 500 photos, maybe 20 of which I can use if the photographer is good.

It's more about taking enough pictures than about being photogenic.
Still, the compliment is appreciated!

Hi Vervain! All of these are quite nice! Hard to choose a favorite, I like the sheer wet sheet, and the one in the shadows where you are wearing a hat. Cool ::coolglasses::
