Two New Subforums

Postby Xiao Rong » Tue Feb 28, 2017 10:30 am

Ask, and ye shall receive! The first is Dragons, a new subforum under "Animals".

We have also reopened the Advanced Witchcraft subforum on the main page.

A big thank you to Starwitch for creating these subforums!

I'll be working on moving relevant threads over to those subforums in the next few days. Please feel free to suggest topics that should be moved, and conversing on those topics!

Hello , Xiao Rong...

Firstly , yes , a thank you to Starwitch...give my regards...:)

And , as I want to be right , and not wrong , ( bows to the
great one of the little blue lotus ) , would you kindly
define the parameters of what is considered Advanced Witchcraft ,
and if this changes any rules , as per Rule 13 ?

I believe much of what I know , and practice would fit within that
subforum , yet how is it defined , and how do we keep it different
than general Witchcraft ?

Should there be a notice at the top of the subforum , alerting the
community of the difference(s) ?

Advanced Witchcraft *can* have it's darkside...will this be one
of the things now allowed ?

"Welcome To The Darkside" ?

Or , another point...say Runic Magic...how do we keep it from
devolving into a conversation on Rune Divination , from a first
post by the initiator of the thread , into a conversation on the
divination by Runes , commonly held , and practiced , thought
pattern ?

I believe you get my points , I am attempting to convey...

Just what , how , and where , are the parameters , and how
will members of the community know , especially if they are new ?

Thank you for your consideration of these questions , and your
effort in getting these subforums approved !

Hi Shawn, thank you for your question. No, the Advanced Witchcraft subforum should not alter any of our existing rules, such as Rule 13. We will still not permit dark/black magic discussions (to be enforced at the discretion of the Mod Team).

I asked for this subforum because I have tried to curate for some time both a list of Witchcraft 101 topics and some Advanced Witchcraft topics. It is simply meant to be a repository of more advanced techniques that go beyond the very basic questions such as, "What is witchcraft?", "How do I cast a circle?", "What are magical ethics?", etc. Up until now, the Advanced Witchcraft topics had nowhere to live except in the "Witchcraft 101" subforum, where they got buried. This just gives them their own separate place to go. Yes, the topics that could fit in this category are still quite broad, but it's better than before (to take your example, in the past, "runic magic" didn't fit anywhere -- doesn't belong in "Runes" under divination, nor in Witchcraft 101, so it just got lost).

Over the next several days, I plan on transferring some of those threads into the new subforum, and combing through the "General Questions" subforum as well to move some of those threads as well.

Thank you for your answer , Xiao Rong...

Even in the Advanced Witchcraft , however , there might be
a thread on advanced and different ways of casting a circle ,
such as in the Faery Tradition , sometimes we use rose petals ,
and charged water , to define the circle , or our directional
and elemental correspondences are different...

This shall get most interesting...;)

Would you mind me asking ?

How long have you been practicing the Craft ,
and being adept in it ?

( not a challenge , truly interested )...;)

Sounds like you are well versed...

I think those would be great topics to introduce in the Advanced Witchcraft subforum, if you are so inclined!

I have been practicing in the Craft for 7 years, and working with an open coven for 4 years. I wouldn't claim to be anywhere near advanced or an expert, though! Just interested in building Pagan communities : )

Oh , you'll see what I will bring to that subforum...lol

Just wait...I've been "around the block"...once or twice...*keeps laughing*...;)

Thanks for your answer...

A great quote a Native American once told me...

"You are walking on stones others laid before you...now it is your turn to lay new stones"

We leave the knowledge behind , in the great chain , or cord ,
for others to carry the torch forward...the Mysteries are endless...;)
