Tome of the Hallowed
A Book of Shadows

"To know thyself is to know the way" -Delphic Oracle

Blessing and Dedication
This the Tome of the Hallowed be
a goodly book wrote to guide thee
into regions dark and deep
where wizened crones their secrets keep
The power of earth, water and sky
fire and moonlight, I draw thee night!
Waxing, waning, ever changing
yet my faith is never fading
Mother, Maiden, wizened Crone;
Bless me and my holy tome
as I seek the ancient ways
underneath thy loving gaze

Charge of the Goddess
Whenever ye have need of anything
Once in the month and better it be when the moon is full,
Then ye shall assemble in some secret place
and adore the spirit of me
who am Queen of all witches
There ye shall assemble
Ye who are fain to know all sorcery,
yet have not won its deepest secrets;
To these will I teach all things that are as yet unknown
Mine is the secret door which
opens upon the Land of Youth,
and mine is the cup of the wine of life
and the Cauldron of Cerridwen,
which is the Holy Vessel of Immortality.
I am the gracious Goddess
who gives the gift of joy onto the heart of man
Upon earth,
I give the knowledge of the spirit eternal;
And beyond death,
I give peace, and freedom,
and reunion with those who have gone before
I am the beauty of the green earth
and the white moon among the stars
and the mystery of the waters
and desire in the heart of man
Call unto thy soul, Arise! and come unto me
For I am the soul of nature
who gives life to the Universe
From me all things proceed
and unto me all things must return;
And before my face, beloved of Gods and of men
let thine innermost divine self be enfolded
in the rapture of the infinite
Let my worship be within the heart that rejoicest
For behold, all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals
Therefore, let there be beauty and strength
power and compassion, honor and humility
mirth and reverence within you
And thou who thinkest to seek from me
know thy seeking and yearning shall avail thee not
lest thou knowest the mystery;
That if that which thou seekest thou findest not within thee
thou wilt never find it without thee
For behold, I have been with thee from the beginning
and I am that which is attained at the end of desire

Invocation of the Goddess
I am Goddess of Three Moons
I am bride of darkest night
I am the richness of the fertile earth
I am the tempest of storm and the calming seas
I am all that ever was, all that shall be
No mortal hath pulled aside my starry veil
and read the secrets written there
for I am mistress of mysteries
I am the Queen of all that is living
I am the Queen of the dead
My body is crafted of moonlight
My breath is the mists that rise from the lakes
I know all the pain that is in the world
and I know all of its overflowing love
Hear my words, my children, and be glad
Look for me in all, not least thine own self
I have been with thee since the beginning
for I am thy mother
I am beside thee now
for I am thy companion
I shall be with the in the end
when I carry thee back into earth and darkness
I am the womb of new beginnings
As yet unimagined, yet unknown

Invocation of the God
I am the leader of men
I am the light of the golden sun
I am the heat of the dancing flame
I am the son, the consort, the father
I am the beat of the goatskin drum
I am the force of the rushing rivers
and I am the strength of the evergreen trees
for I am a Green God of Nature
I am a God of the mountains
and I am a God of the Wood
for I am the great Hunter
My body is strong, my chest broad
I am the warrior and the warden
Enemies flee or cower before me
I am the Holly King of cold dark winters
My beard is crafted from snow
My brow is the cliffs before the sea
I am the consort of the Goddess
It is I whom She loves
I am the Infant son of the Goddess
From Her womb I was born
Love and worship Her, your mother
The womb from which all life springs forth,
Her arms to which we all must return
Worship me, for I am blessed with her love

Spell for Banishing Ill Temper
Bitter figs turn sweet with age
be turn’d to sweet, thy bitter rage
As the olives filled with oil, the grapes with wine
with grace be fill’d that heart of thine
Be smooth as cream, as honey sweet
Now from thine angry mood retreat

-adapted from Hittite mythology of their Goddess of magic Kamrusepa
Gather figs, grapes (or wine), olives (or olive oil), cream and honey. Bless the figs first, then the grapes and olives, and last the cream and honey. Speak the blessing over each in turn. Finally, have the object of the spell eat and drink the blessed foods.
Note: Try substitutions, ie. Fig Newtons for figs, or cream, honey, olive oil or grapes/wine used as ingredients in cooking.

Incantation for Divining the Future
Fire and smoke at witching hour
fill me now with visionary power
As I will to forsee
whatever shall be

Spell for Lovers
Let me love and cherish
The one I hold in my heart
For himself only, and no other reason
And never take for granted
And he, unto me
Let him hold me in his heart
With compassion and forgiveness
With passion and friendship
And me, unto he
Let the bond we have forged
Grow ever stronger with passing days
And let us both remember always
The words our hearts hath whispered
As we look’d upon the other’s face

Light two candles, one red and one pink. Burn cinnamon and ground dried red rose petals. Best on a Friday.

Ridding Oneself of a Failed Love
He holds my spirit from time gone by
No longer in my arms he lies
Gods of old release my mind
No longer is (name of spell object) in my life
So I ask the Gods to end this strife
Released from the bonds of heart and soul
My spell is cast and (name) has no hold

-from Reikihealer
To be performed on the night of the new moon.

Spell to Heal Wounds from Love
I wish thee to forget thy woe
As I regret what love did sow
Forgive me for anguish rent
I ne’er did bear thee ill intent
May hurt and anger leave thy heart
And acordaunce, if thou will it, start
I accept my share of pain inflicted
Let thy affliction now be lifted!

Light a red candle, representing the love that caused the pain. From that one candle, light two candles, to represent the two of you. In a small bowl, cover basil, coriander (for reconciliation), willow leaves (for forgiveness) and clover (for mental healing) with water. After the spell is repeated once, burn a paper with the object’s name written on it with the flame from the first candle. Blow that candle out. Repeat the spell again, and extinguish the candle that represents the caster in the bowl of water. Finally, repeat it a third time, and extinguish the last candle in the bowl of water.

Dimming Glamour
Dim as dusk I slip from sight
I blend the mist, I mix the light
Neither seen nor unseen
Let me walk, for now, between

Light a gray candle and burn incense in a dark room. Gaze at your reflection in the mirror while repeating the chant. Watch the edges of your reflection and try to make them dissolve or grow fuzzy. Then, close your eyes and visualize yourself growing dimmer. Blow out the candle.

Slavic Runespell against Slander
O righteous sun!
Do thou in my foes, my rivals, my oppressors,
In the powers that be, and public officials,
and in all people of good mouth and heart
Parch up evil thoughts and deeds, so that they may not rise up
may not utter words baleful for me!

Make a sachet of marigold petals and bay leaves. Carry with you and it will dispel gossip. Slippery Elm is powerful and well-suited to this task, though harder to obtain.

Curse for False Friends and Evildoers
May your ill begotten gains sour!
May your mask fall from your face
And what lies beneath be revealed to all!!
May the pain you have caused me
Be returned onto yourself tenfold!
Until you repent and make amends
May your spite and deceit fester in your soul!

Rub a black candle with my own blood, starting at each end towards the center. Set it in a dish of sugar, and light the candle until it burns down. While repeating the chant, perform the following: Slice a lime twice, once vertically and once horizontally, without cutting the lime through. Write your enemy’s name on a slip on paper and place it in the lime. Pin the lime closed with two steel pins. Place the lime in a sealed container full of vinegar, ash and salt. When the candle has burned down, empty the wax and burnt sugar into the container and bury it in the earth.

Circle Casting Ritual
Place five pieces of clear quartz in a pentacle shape, and visualize a white humming energy field creating a circle around the pieces once they are in place. Stand in the center, facing north, and say clearly:
“With the strength of the Earth, I cast my circle.
Blessed be the magic that takes place within.”

Take up your wand, and draw a circle with the point, clockwise from the East. Visualize as you complete the circle, a barrier of wind swirling around the boundaries of the circle but not crossing them. Stand in the center facing East. Hold the wand with both hands, pointing down and say clearly:
“With the light of the Air, I cast my circle.
Blessed be the magic that takes place within.”

Take up your athame, and draw a clockwise circle from the South. Visualize a circle of flame being traced from the point of the blade. Stand in the center facing south, holding the athame with both hands and pointing down. Say clearly:
“With the fierce will of Fire, I cast my circle.
Blessed be the magic that takes place within.”

Take up your chalice and sprinkle water in a clockwise circle from the West. Stand in the center facing East, holding the chalice with both hands. Visualize a cool blue ripple spreading from out from your feet and stopping at the boundary of the circle, and say:
“With the feeling of Water, I cast my circle.
Blessed be the magic that takes place within.”

Finally, light the God and Goddess candles on your alter. Kneel, stand or sit before it, hands pressed to your body (your center, over the diaphragm) visualizing a bright white light radiating from your center and say:
“Spirit, within me, without me
Part of that which runs through All
To channel my power into my craft, I invoke thee
Blessed be my work within this sacred place”

Slavic Spell for Protection
O Virgin, unsheathe your father’s sacred sword
Take up the breastplate of your ancestors
Take up your powerful helmet
Bring forth your steed of black
Seek out my enemies who wish me ill
Wherever they may hide from your swift justice
O Virgin, cover me with your veil
Shield me against the power of the enemy
Against sharp tongues and cruel hearts
Weapons of hate, of jealousy, of duplicity or neglect
Drag their darkness into the light so that it may perish

Light a black candle carved with the rune for protection, Thurisaz. Best on a Tuesday.

*NOTE*:
I welcome and any replies. Some spells you will find here I wrote myself, and any questions about them, how they work, how they were written or how to modify them for your own purpose will happily be answered. What is found here is what is appropriate for me at my point in my path- I would consider certain spells or rituals to be "not for Newbies". To avoid the grandiosity of deciding if you are "advanced enough for my spell", please just consider before performing any magic if it is appropriate for you, and that someone else's spells reflect their path- not THE path.

I greatly enjoy discussions about my beliefs and how I apply them. As long as a debate resembles a sparring match as opposed to a UFC fight- I find these discussions to be my favorite thing about this message board, and will not take offense.

Happy Beltane to All! I'm off on my picnic

What exactly is the Dimming Glamour spell for?
You know they're all the same
You know you're doing better on your own so don't buy in
Live right now
Just be yourself
It doesn't matter if that's good enough for someone else

It's designed to be an "unnoticed" spell- as opposed to an "invisible" spell.
I've never tried it, but I've heard many instances of spells for this purpose and wanted to see first hand what results I got.

Meet Again Spell
Plants once dead return to life
As springtime stirs the earth
Likewise, let the warmth and light
Stir my memory within your heart
Our destinies once intertwined
And through the years I feel
Our threads of fate still are tied
And our journey is not done
Once we spoke the word “forever”
And that word became an oath
Let it someday be fulfilled
And sooth the chasm within us both
May we meet again on the path ahead
With open hearts and bright eyes
Time heals all wounds, and so again
Let us see where our future lies

Carve a pink candle with three deities: Philotes, Mnemosyne, Aphrodite. Carve an orange candle with the names of the three fates: Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos. Light the candles. Write each of your names on a slip of paper. Place the casters name under the pink candle and the objects name under the orange. Repeat the chant.
Perform this spell at midnight, for three consecutive days of waxing moon leading up to the full moon. On the third night, put out the candles, and tie the papers face together to a magnet. Hold the magnet between the candles, and wrap them all with thread over and over, even if it becomes large and bulky. Keep it under your bed. Unwrapping the candles and cutting them in half will break the spell.
