in the broom closet...slowly sufficating!

hi im a new wiccan just starting out and am a way away from 18 and i want my parents to understand or at the very least know about this big part of my life that is so much me! sm121 my dad has raised me to be very honest so i dont like hiding things from him, he's atheist though (i apologize if i misspell anything!) and my step-mom is jewish in this post im not going to ask your advice on the problem that is my mother (dont want to get into that right now) my step-mom doesnt really like me though...im mostly worried about my dad and sister (little if that matters). i know this isnt nearly as bad as what some of you have to go through (like destruction of personal property thats pretty horible) but like i said earlier i am pretty far away from 18 so all i really have is google...on my phone... while in my room. im not sure how open any one will be in my family because i mentioned it to my aunt and all i said was i was reading about wicca and it seemed interesting and she told me it was too weird and to stay away from that kinda thing, i tried to nonchalantly change her veiws but was unfortunatly unsuccessful and i had thought she was the more open of the two. so if anyone has any ideas or feedback please post it! and if your interested in hearing more about my struggles as a young wiccan or have a question (though i highly doubt id be able to help with stuff like that and wil probably just suggest you ask a more experienced witch) thanks and i look foward to hearing your thoughts! sm121 :? :|

Welcome to the site! And you should be open to your family members. I came very clean to my mom that I'm wiccan and I am proud of it. She then told the rest of the family without my consult but it seems their fine with it too. Althought I wanted to talk to my other family myself.
Peace and Pasta!~

I understand how it is. I'm 17 now and I've been practicing for about 4 years. My parents are very catholic, I even go to a catholic school. I just found ways to be with the lord and lady. Meditation, journaling, etc. I slowly added to my collection of tools, as well as my collection of knowledge. I have several books that have helped me, but above all of them is Teen Witch by Silver Ravenwolf. It talks about all of this kind of stuff, and it would be a good book to ask a family member to please read. Most of the reason family members don't accept the craft, is because they are misinformed.
