Tarot Mission Statement question

Postby Pinkpower_80 » Mon Aug 04, 2014 9:59 am

I have been working on connecting to my tarot deck & learning as much as I can about them. I use The Wildwood Tarot & absolutely love them. I came across a website last night when looking up methods for cleaning & charging my deck. I will have to insert the page link once I get on my laptop since my tablet is being stubborn lol. The woman's name is Geraldine Amaral. ETA to add link: http://www.thespiritualtarot.com/Bless_this_deck.html
She recommends writing a Tarot mission statement before charging the deck in order to define what I hope to accomplish with the use of my cards. Has anyone else done this before?
She developed a 4 card spread, that I have quoted here:
Card 1 Card 2 Card 3 Card 4
1. What personal strength can help me in my use of the Tarot?

2. What areas in my life are still being developed that would be best not to include in my mission statement? Is there anything I should be concerned about or especially cautious about when doing a reading?

3. Help me understand what I hope to accomplish with the Tarot. Show me cards that can help me understand my intent for the use of my Tarot deck?

4. What is the universe’s intent for me when I use the Tarot? What does Spirit want me to know about how best to use these cards?

The cards I pulled are: 1)Four of Vessels (boredom) 2) 0 The Wanderer (The Fool)
3) Queen of Arrows (Swan) 4) Six of Bows (Abundance)

Ok, I am still a major Tarot noob but I'm working on remedying that. :fairy: I know what my limited take on the meaning of these cards is, but I would like some further insight. I plan on journaling my feelings about each card at some point today but I can't focus enough right now. I've got a terrible headache & my 4yo won't let me out of her sight at the moment lol.

Any input and advice would be greatly appreciated! I know this is a deeply personal thing, I just need some guidance as I learn the ropes. Thanks in advance! :flyingwitch:

You are right, it is very personal. (: So I'm going to do my best to tell you what I do myself, and see if it registers with you or not.

I'm personally very intuitive, and I've reached the point now where I almost don't even pay attention to the card readings. I merely use the cards as a way of channeling my own intuition into a situation. It's not to say, of course, I don't use the cards! However, I use them in a different way. (: There will be times when I do use the meanings, and resort to my book because I have such a horrid memory, but what I'll list below is my method!

What I do, is I'll pull for the spread and I'll look it over for my initial reaction and keep note of it on my laptop (I have a word document full of all my readings). I do the same for each card and break it down depending on the spread. Now what I look for personally, are any signs or symbols within the card itself. Does the person on the card look happy, sad? What are the colors and the themes presenting within the cards? Sometimes these are really obvious and will tell a situation as well as give the answers right off the bat. Sometimes, you have to do a little digging into the card and try to figure out what it's telling you beneath the surface.

At this point, I still use the images but I go deeper than the colors and the expressions. I try to look for smaller details hidden within the images on the cards and see if they hold any meaning to me. I go based on my own gut with readings, which works well for me but might not for you!

If by this point, I'm still struggling I do resort to looking up meanings again and I just skim everything until the words literally jump out at me!

I hope this was helpful/insightful and if not, at least interesting to see how someone else does something.

I hope you are able to continue your growth and enjoy your time practicing! (: I am sure you will do well! And thank you for sharing that link, I am going to look into that!

Blessed be,

Sakura

Thank you Sakura! Your post was really helpful because I am always curious about other methods. I would love to get to that point, especially to trust my instincts better. These are things I will put into my mission statement, and I also feel like that is a recurring message to me from my cards. In order for me to grow, I have to learn to trust myself.

I'm glad it helped!

And yes! Trust in yourself is incredibly important and that makes me want to share something I have to remember to keep doing myself. You may know, of course, but it doesn't hurt to share anyways. (:

When doing readings, ALWAYS share everything. I've had a few situations, one of which was actually rather important, where I left out information because to me it seemed incredibly weird and just out of left field. However, when I mentioned it to the person I was reading for, they said it was true and really spoke to them.

It's something I really need to work on. Haha. You never know what might speak to someone! (:

So true! I hope to finish my statement tomorrow, where I'll put it in my BOS. I will share it here when I finish. I don't know why I'm stuck on this, something just tells me that it's something I should do.
