Tarot Disaster

Postby RosieMoonflower » Tue Apr 07, 2015 7:14 am

So I always cleanse my tarot cards by leaving them out under a full moon and then charge them by leaving them out in the sun. So a few nights ago I did this and I didn't check the weather and it rained.

I woke up at 6am and it was pouring.. I thought, my poor cards, they're soaked! So I ran outside to get them but many of them were scattered throughout the yard. Oh dang it, I thought. I walked Round picking them up and to my surprise they were not in that bad of shape. I expected them to be moist and rip easily, but they weren't. I suppose they are made to withstand a little water.

As I picked them up I started getting feelings from them they they were not unhappy about their evening in the rain, if anything they were feeling very powerful to have been affected by so many elements. Some where on the table where I left them, so they got the water element. Some were picked up by the air and carried across the yard so they got water and wind. And several that were picked up were dropped squarely in the mud, so they got water, air and earth.

I gathered them all and later them in the spare bathtub to dry. Well I left them on there this whole time because I was busy and not needing to use the cards, however, last night I went I get them and discovered, I have all the major arcana but I am missing 8 suit cards. I'm devastated. I have walked all around my property and now luck finding them. I'm afraid they have gone into my neighbors yards, we have privacy fences so on the day I gathered them up from outside I couldn't have seen if there were any in the neighbors yards. Even if that's where they are, I'm afraid to ask them. Being a witch or reading tarot cards is extremely taboo where I'm from, I'd be afraid we'd have a repeat of the Salem witch trials, starting with me.

I've heard of readings that people do with only the major arcana so that is a possibility, but the store where I bought my tarot cards closed down 2 years ago. I could order a deck online but it wouldn't be the same as choosing your own deck in person I think. Not to mention all the time I have our into getting to know this deck and building a relationship with it, I feel like it's all gone now. In going to walk around he neighborhood with my dogs later and pray I find them all in a bush somewhere, but I feel like 8 is a lot to track down...

Moral of the story is always check the weather when leaving your cards outside!!!!!!!!!!!! [LOUDLY CRYING FACE][LOUDLY CRYING FACE][LOUDLY CRYING FACE][LOUDLY CRYING FACE][LOUDLY CRYING FACE]

Tarot Disaster

Postby RosieMoonflower » Tue Apr 07, 2015 11:23 am

I suppose I should be grateful that the major arcana is in tact and therefore usable in a spread only using those so all is not lost. However, I'm still sad for the missing cards and I'm still worried my neighbors have found them and have started looking around for the witch... I fear if someone finds one, they may not know what it is at first but they may look it up and find it's tarot and freak out and jump to conclusions and think they are cursed or something!! Also, of I hadn't waited so long to count them out and put them together I would have realized sooner and I may have been able to find a few. Now, I'm scared people have had days to find them on their own walks and such.

My friend told me to stay positive and think that maybe the cards will bring messages to my neighbors that they need to hear, or may spark their own interest in the craft or divination.. But, I still miss them!!!

I am curious, which cards have gone missing?

I also wouldn't fret too much about being "discovered." My husband is from a Catholic country and while they tend to look badly upon witches, people who use Tarot simply get odd looks and nothing more. Don't worry about something that can't be helped, and hasn't actually happened or come around to hurt you yet. :)

Tarot Disaster

^^ Thanks Vesca, you're right, I shouldn't worry when nothing has happened. The are of the United States that I live in is nicknamed "The Bible Belt" since it is dominated by the Christian religion. Typically Christians around these parts are more "extreme" than in other parts of the US, but still you're right, I shouldn't worry until something happens.

These are the missing cards:

Ace of Swords
2 of Wands
2 of Cups
3 of Swords
7 of Pentacles
Page of Wands
7 of Wands
4 of Swords

I wonder if you would glean any insight into your current life by meditating on the meaning of the cards that went missing, and if they raise any flags for you to address or pay attention to in "the real world."

You could do readings with an incomplete deck, or you could also purchase (or maybe one will be gifted to you in the future) another deck and just graft the new cards into your old deck to complete it.

There's also the possibility that someone else who is starting to become aware and open to Tarot or a new spiritual calling will find one of the cards and it will help open a door for them, kind of like a calling to pique their interest and give them a stepping stone to start learning.

Thanks Vesca, I do believe I should try to do a reading of the cards that went missing. And, I do hope the people who find my cards are inspired by them and treat them with respect, and are not afraid of them.

Also, I intend to keep the cards. I have a couple of ideas. I plan to use only the major arcana, which is complete, only for a while. I think it will do it's purpose. I have seen spreads before for using only the major and I can learn one or make one up. The other cards of the suits that I have I have decided to keep as alter decorations. I'm working in a alter now at my new house and I'm thinking I can decorate, or even pull out certain cards and use them in prayer/spells/ritual, etc. If they apply to the situation.

Maybe one day I will get another deck, but I'll have to travel somewhere because I would prefer to pick out mine in person. I might have time this summer to set up a short trip for that. In fact, I had been wanting to travel south because there are crystal mines there you can go and dig your own crystals. I've never done it, but I've always heard of it. Then there was this thing on the news about it reminding me. It's about 4+hours away. Maybe I can come home with a new deck and some new crystals. That would ease the pain of loosing my cards I think...

Rosie MoonFlower...
Thank you for the little giggle when you were telling
about how the cards felt after being outside :) ::coolglasses::
Bummer about the missing cards, but would be interested
in what you came up with for the missing.
I had a deck long ago that got ripped off, it had a spot on
the blank card. My Mom gave me a deck from a mutual
friend, without the box or LWB; oddest thing tho there
was a spot on blank in same area. Coincidence ?
Anyway, when I was in the market for a new deck I
looked on outer, our shop here had barely anything
in it. I looked for what seemed like forever, with all
the different websites...etc. I was looking on one site
and cruising through the thousand titles and one
just jumped up and said buy me ! I couldn't be happier !

Okay, I did some meditation, reflection, & introspective into my missing cards and I believe the message they were giving me was not to count Christ out. I'm a pagan but I was raised a Christian. In the last 5 years I have pretty much stopped praying to Jesus and just started using the term "God". I jokingly call this my "break up" with Jesus.

Anyways, so the 7 of pentacles has always represented Christianity and/or charity to me. But, the other cards I was having trouble with because of them not being in front of me. So I went to the guide I use to help me remember the meanings of cards and I wrote down the words that stuck out to me.

Ace of Swords - new beginnings, new possibilities, and balance
2 of Wands - productive relationships, magnificence
2 of Cups - union, love, romantic relationships, connections, fun relationships.
3 of Swords - betrayal, breakdown of relationships, removal, absence, sorrow, love triangle
7 of Wands - struggle
4 of Swords - withdrawing mentally, relaxation, retreat

Okay, music is a really big deal to me. I can hear a song one time and remember most of the lyrics and all of the tune, bridge and all. And, I believe that I get certain songs stuck in my head for specific reasons. So, a few days before this I was listening to The Animal League's "Don't You Want Me Baby" on the way to work. I had never really listened to the lyrics before so I did this time. I realized for the first time the song is actually a duet and it is a break up song. She is explaining why she is leaving and he is saying he doesn't believe she doesn't need him.

So, as I was going through the words associated with the cards, I was getting this feeling that they were pointing to the "break up" I had with Jesus and then BAM, my brain starts singing:
"Don't you want me baby??
You know I can't believe it
When I hear that you won't see me.
Don't, don't you want me?
You know I don't believe you
When you say that you don't need me.
It's much to late to find
When you think you've changed your mind.
You'd better change it back or we will both be sorry.
Don't you want me, baby?
Don't you want me, oooooooh?
Don't you want me, baby?
Don't you want me, oooooooh?

It was like running into a brick wall. I've always called me moving away from Christianity a "break up" and here I am mulling over cards about breaking up and the only card in the whole deck that makes me think of Christianity, and the song I had heard a million times before but never really listened to. Also, a day or two before this I had seen a statue of Jesus, used a random coffee mug that said Christ overall at work, and saw a random cross painted on a construction sign near my house and at the time I took that as a sign from Jesus. Pairing that with this experience if the cards and hearing the song, my conclusion is that Jesus is trying to get me to come back around.

Even though I am still a pagan, I believe I am being called to bring Jesus back into my life, even if I have other gods in my as well. My fiancé and I have very very similar religious beliefs and he was also raised a Christian. We were already worried about finding someone to officiate our wedding since we are basically christo-pagans and there are not any churches for that around here. We have decided to explore some Christian churches in our area and see if we can find one that will accept us for who we are and what we believe and will help us facilitate our relationship with Jesus the way that we want it.

The only card that really really threw me off was the page of wands. I wrote down "child or teenager", enthusiasm, education, and creative energy. This could possibly be about me. I'm always blabbing about how I think. Had more spiritual and psychic abilities as a child and learned to suppress them over time to fit in. Or, it could be telling me to look more at Jesus's life as a child for some answer or message...? I also took the four of swords to be telling me to relax in my pursuit of a higher power or the "answers". I pretty much have thought about spirituality and religion every day for he past 4 months, and I still don't have the "answers". I may never have all of the answers and I need to remind myself to relax and retreat from these thoughts sometimes and spend time with my family and my fiancé, and just be happy. As bad as I want to know the truth and the source of creation and all of that, I don't believe that any god wants me to obsess so much about this that I neglect the other important things I have in this life. If the answers to life can be found in only a few months then someone would have already found them and published a book about it by now. I need to remember that It could take me years to find the answers that I need and to be patient.

P.S. I'm still uber bummed about loosing the cards. I looked online at some cards and nothing stuck out to me. None of them held a candle to my own deck, in my opinion. But, I'll keep looking..

I'll cleanse mine, just before I use them, one leaf in the burner of white sage. I fan out the cards in my right hand and run them threw the sage smoke up and down and fan the smoke with them, that's my way, just before I use them!!!

Yes, good idea! I don't have much experience with spells besides candle magick, and even that is minimal though.
