School Magic

Postby smogie_michele » Fri Jan 15, 2016 11:59 am

I was hoping to start a thread full of small little "daily magic" type tips and tricks that people use for when they study.
ALL of us are students... We are highschoolers, college goers, personal development seekers, teachers, students of the craft and so much more- when you study what are some of the ways you bring your craft into it?
Perhaps we can all borrow and share ideas?

Before I study, I wipe will quickly clear off and wipe down whatever table I will be working at, charging it to be a clean, fresh slate for me to work on.
I always light a candle and will say a quick prayer over it, asking for focus.
I will ALWAYS have either a cup of coffee or tea near me. I will pray over it asking for it to ground me and calm me is I start to feel lost in my schoolwork.
Sometimes, I will pull out one of my favorite crystals. I have a small, smooth citrine that I feel like resonates with me very well. If I feel like school is becoming "boring," I will take five minutes to close my eyes and run my thumb over the surface of the stone. I feel like this helps to "recharge me."
A yawn is a silent scream for coffee.

Feel free to pm me if you have any questions! I am here to help.

I am trying to gear up to get back in school so I can upgrade my nursing education. This thread popped up at an excellent time for me. It dovetails quite well with Yana's rune reading that she did for me.

Apply a sigil for focus to each of your books and notebooks, or to each page you write.

Those are great tips Michele. Under my desk I have a big grounding rock. Big enough I can put my feet on. It keeps me calm grounded and from an occupational therapy standpoint, I think the feeling that my feet can explore and push, or rock against the rock kind of helps me in a proprioceptive sensory way.

I keep a clean workspace so I can concentrate and energy can flow, and I like a light incense or essential oil.

Fresh rosemary on the desk is good for remembering and stimulating the mind, periodically I can reach out and crush a bit releasing the volatile oils.

The grounding rock sounds like a wonderful idea for me!

I'm starting to get annoyed because I didn't have these tips when I was in school :D
Maybe when I go back to get my masters degree, I'll be able to use them :)

I'm cleaning the carpet in the second bedroom, so I can put a desk in there. Setting up a proper work space should help me with staying on task.

I'm finding that my work space (the kitchen table) has become overrun with "stuff." Bills, receipts, magazines... Making it hard for me to stay on task. It's a little frustrating not having my desk anymore, I miss it.

Oh, Becks, I love your rock idea!!
Last year we took a short trip to a castle (not the last time I saw my brother but the last thing we did together before I went to canada) - it's here on the hills, I can actually see it if i stick my head out of my living room windows.
We parked on a lower parking lot and walked up. There was a pile of (sand) stones, I felt the urge to take one home and I did - having no idea what to do with it!

Now I do!

I light my candles when studying and diffuse some oil. Usually enough for my purposes.
