Road Trippin

Hi all!

I’ll be in the Portland area in May for a Medicinal Herbalism conference. I’ll probably only have one or two days free afterwards, but if anyone wants to meet up or knows anything interesting going on in the area, I’d love to hear!

If you mean Portland, OR, you should check out the New Renaissance book shop on NW 23rd Ave. or Celestial Awakenings on Stark. If you get a chance stop by the Japanese Gardens.

I was actually planning on visiting those gardens, they look cool!

And yeah, Portland in Oregon. I’ll make sure to stop by the bookstore, I like bookstores.

The gardens are amazing. There is also a very strong and diverse metaphysical retail community in the Portland area. It's like being at a restaurant that serves all your favorite things! If you like bookstores, you can't pass up Powell's, I can (and have) spent half a day in there.

Dang I want to go.
well there is Multnomah Falls on the Columbia...pretty impressive, heck the whole Columbia river gorge is pretty fantastic.
There is actually a UU church in downtown that's a cool old building with a pipe organ inside, The UU's are very pagan friendly, maybe catch a service on Sunday?
But do tell more about the herbal thing...who is sponsoring it?

The UU Church? What’s the acronym stand for?

The event is the annual Traditional Roots conference at the National University of Natural Medicine:

Thanks!
Here's the Portland church I was speaking of. http://www.firstunitarianportland.org
A friend of mine used to sing in the choir there, in front of this pipe organ.

Don't be surprised if I see you at the conference! I would love to go.

Well if you do make it, firebirdflys, you’ll have to let me know!

Thanks for the recommendations everyone!

If there’s any more, I’ve still a month left for planning.

Do let us know how it goes!

Worry no more ;)

So I’ve decided I love Portland. It’s a really cool city.

The conference went well, learned lots, and the campus library there is very impressive. Probably the largest collection of books on herbs I’ve ever seen!

My favorite spot, however, was the Chinese Garden. Quite relaxing. It was designed as a ‘scholars garden’ and everything in it had some sort of symbolism.

Also went to Powell’s Books, and spent about 5 hours there haha.
