Red Magic

Postby SpiritTalker » Fri Oct 28, 2016 12:10 pm

Red magic isnt just "a" spell, but it's a means to doing spells. It is something I pulled together as a safe and simple way to study the Fire Element. I spent a year learning about each element, and Fire was a puzzler because of it's risk. I needed ways to learn about it without burning down the house, so I did a lot of substitution-by-association. Thus in the process, I found that Fire's transformative nature is inherent in all magic, because magic by its very purpose transforms. The primary work of magic is to transform the magician-witch.

What follows are the substitutions behind another post I did some months ago called "Red Therapy" that was a long-term, color therapy spell to boost my morale and reinstate my interest in life.

Fire is a symbol of the Universal Energy, what is called Chi, Prana and Orgone. Therefore it is the very universal fluid of change. Red is the color most often associated with Fire, thus also with transformative magic. So I use a lot of red for anything and everything.

A simple candle (any shape or size, but red) is an amazingly effective magical tool. The flame is the power, and the wax is the fuel. The wax is consumed. In this way, a candle is also an offering. We dab on oil to hold the psychic charge of our intention, or thoughts and will, to affix these vital energies to the fuel so that as the wax is consumed, our intentions are released to the ethers by the power of the flame. We roll an oiled (taper) candle in herbs that stick to the oil and reinforce the fire element energies. Olive fruit from which oil is made is associated with fire. SAFETY NOTE: do NOT place an oiled and herbed votive candle into a votive holder. The concentrated heat burns the herbs which can crack or explode a glass holder. Just set votives on a saucer.

Some RED plant-materials are: apple for health & love; carnation petals for vitality; cherry for honesty & psychism; chili peppers for speed; cinnamon for orgone energy, health, success, protection & lust; geranium for exorcism; lily for divine intervention; rose petals for abundance, health, love, psychism; tulip petals for grounding and relationships; yarrow for health & clairvoyance.

Some RED stones are: aventurine for orgone energy & discernment; carnelian as blood healer; cinnabar for money manifestation; garnet for health, vitality, & psychism; granite for strength & stability, & longevity (think of the pyramids); Jasper for health & earth energy.

So fire is a whole system of magic contained and pre-packaged. And using only red ornaments (red glass candle holders, flowers, sparkly things) is eye-candy to the sub-conscious mind. For those of us on a fixed income budget, red magic can serve as the go-to and simplest method of attaining our goals of transformation.

i find this really interesting as I've gotten into color therapy a lot in recent years. Water is the element that has always resonated most with me so your post is inspiring me to do more with blue/water magic. I didn't know the color red appeals to the subconscious, that's helpful to know as well.

Oh gosh, when I was learning the water element, I got on down into sea magic, and I loved it, though I'm land locked. It eased me out of habitual denial of my feelings, and cleared the household drains. Both emotions and drains are water element associations.
 so go for it :evilwitch:

Important Observation: One of the rules in spell work is to maintain a balance of energy. I failed to do this when I used my red fire element associations to the exclusion of it's opposite on the color wheel. To balance the RED, I should have added some dashes of GREEN.

Yes, my red magic broke me free of the lethargic post-retirement doldrums, and brought back my passion which was my intention. And the cost of failing to balance all the red of fire energy was that it's elemental energy opposite of Water was cut off in my environment. I have just experienced a broken water main connection to my home, and spent several days without running water until it was fixed. But first the water flooded my basement, to restore it's natural balance, and basements are symbolic of foundations.

So, be more attentive than I was. When doing color magic, balance the energies with some of the opposite color. Hopefully we can all learn from my whopping big DOH.

Just so you understand, I wasn't just working with color alone, in which case the color wheel is the key to balance, but I was also working with the element of Fire as part of my study of that element. But for strictly color magic, and not messing with elements, use the opposite color on the color wheel to bring balance. If using the elements, then use the opposite elemental property for balance.

Haha ha, no Duh...more like, AhHa! Now I remember :P
Thanks for the very inportant heads up!
In a color wheel a small dash of the opposite keeps consistant the balance as in the yin and yang symbol. I'll get a pic for those who may be un familiar:

Just wondering if you have a image or graph of the opposites within the elements (for those of us who are unsure).

The balancing force or energies are Air/Earth as opposites, Water/Fire as opposites, which is depicted in the familiar Star of David with it's 2 inter-twined triangles. These are the four alchemical symbols of the elements, and combined is the fifth and symbolizes manifestation.

The up-pointing triangle ^ is fire, and down pointing triangle v is water; additionally, the upward with a line across it (like a capital A) is air, and the downward with a line is earth (looks like a spear point stuck in the earth).

Depending on which color you associate with an element, look at the color wheel and see what is directly across from that color. Spirit used red for fire, strait across the wheel from red is greeen. If one uses orange for fire, then blue is oppsite.
Purple for water? Yellow is oppsite. We use black for earth, so white would be it's counterpart.
