Rambles of a Hedge Witch

Postby autumnAria » Wed Feb 08, 2012 10:50 pm

Hello everyone! My name is Sorcha and I'm new to this site as well as new to the craft. I've been studying natural witchery for about four months now and I've been enjoying every minute of it. I come from an incredibly conservative Christian background so some of this has been difficult for me to get used to and it's even harder because I can't talk about it with a majority of my friends and family. My fiance (another eclectic) has really been helping me along and I've got to thank the Goddess every day for his support, I don't know where I'd be without him. I also owe a lot to Ellen Dugan. I don't know how many of you have read her books but they are really responsible for my initial interest and her style of relaxed, home and nature centric witchery really click with me.

I consider myself a Green Witch or a Hedge Witch, still haven't decided which title I like best. I've always felt an incredibly close affinity with nature and just being outside even for a few moments really puts me in a worshipful nature. Unfortunately I now live in a dorm in the city so it's difficult for me to have that private time outside or garden as I would like to. I also have very close ties to the fae, possibly connected to my Irish heritage. As for psychic tendencies I am a very strong and very uncontrolled empath. It gets incredibly confusing when my emotions get all tangled up in someone elses but it happens more often than I would like. My divinatary tool is tarot. I love the symbolism and imagery of my Mystic Faerie deck. I'm quite good at doing readings for others but tend to be less accurate with my own. Perhaps I'm just not meant to know my own story. Half the adventure is in the unknown right?

Anyways, I'm glad to be here among other like-minded people and I hope I'll be able to learn a lot from you. Blessed be!

Hello Sorcha! I'm not a Hedge Witch myself but I also am dorming it (love the dorm and roommate but it does make rituals complicated) and I love tarot cards. I hope you find more people to talk about and be supported here :)

Thanks! Luckily I have suitemates instead of roommates this year so I at least have a bit more provacy but I've been doing dorm life for seven years now so I'm pretty much tired of it. XD My main problem is trying to do spells without candles. It never feels as powerful to me...

Hi Sorcha! I am also an Ellen Dugan fan. Her books are my favorite. I also like Patricia Telesco. I too lean toward the Hedge witch or kitchen witch practices.
