Questions on Tarot Cards

Postby eddie07 » Thu Feb 07, 2013 1:28 pm

I just recently bought my own Tarot Deck. I’ve been learning a lot by studying my cards and doing little small readings on friends and people I don’t know. I’m not a pro or even good at it yet, but I need to remove this doubt and fear some kind of way.

When starting a reading I first begin by shuffling the cards. I talk to the client but don’t ask them what it is that they want to know; I want to be able to get all that information on my own. As well, let say they have a question...I don’t want to ask them for the question, just give them the answer. I want to be a PRO. What things do you usually look for when starting a reading? Depending on the 1st card that comes out, what should I take from it?

Which cards represent you, and how will I know when the cards are referring to the past, present and future?

I know these are all difficult questions to answer, but i would appreciate any good advice.

Thank you very much :)

Blessings...

Haven't done cards in years but the client doesn't shuffle? I thought they should. And you can use a spread, cards go in a position that represents past, present, etc.

Yes, the client shuffles the cards. I’m still learning on how to better understand the Celtic spread, but I don’t really like that that spread. I like placing down 7 cards in rows under each other until all the cards are on the table. I’m not sure what that spread is called but it’s pretty popular and simple.

I have been into Tarot for about a year and a half. I began with very short readings, just one or three cards, and I've slowly increased how many I put down. I believe the cards should be interpreted in relation to each other, so adding more cards adds even more time and effort into your interpretation.

If your client has a specific question in mind, I would encourage you to use that as guidance in how you interpret the cards.

I use a variety of spreads from my Tarot books and have found others on the Internet. The position you specify for a card determines whether it relates to the past, present, future or any other factor.

I've been dabbling in the tarot for a year or so now. The most trouble I'm having is remembering the meanings of all the cards. I give pretty accurate readings but I need to have my handy dandy reference book with me! Definitely have the client shuffle the cards themselves and pick their own cards for the reading, that always works the best for me when doing an in person reading. I also don't think so much about past/present/future, if you lay out enough cards they will start to really tell a story about what is going on!

Wiccan that’s understandable; it looks like we are very opposite. I’m good with remembering the signs and meanings just not how to read the story the way the cards are showing it to me. Another thing that confuses me is which card is talking about the querent or someone relating to the querent. What symbols do you look for when trying to see if the card is representing the past present or future or do you kind of just know? lol.
