Need some help with this one

[WARNING: this dream was a bit violent and content may be a bit upsetting to those sensitive to the subject of gun violence.]

I had a pretty violent home invasion dream last night. The event and what I did about it seemed like the focal point of it. There were other facts but they just didn't 'feel' as relevant. It took place in a house from my childhood specifically in the basement. This place frequents my dreams. It's a large fully finished and carpeted room. It has tacky colorful roaring 20s wallpaper with like a patchwork of imagery and notably it had an old saloon style bar. My parents were in a band when I was young and used to host parties in it.

An item I'd never seen stuck out though. There was one heck of a gun cabinet down there and it glowed like an objective in a video game. I was with two people but I'm not sure I know them. They seemed like character tropes with vague faces. There was a younger teenage girl with spiky hair and an attitude but I didnt interact with he much. She was showing me how to use an old western style revolver out of the gun cabinet. Looked easy enough to me. The other woman was older than me. She was beautiful with long hair and a long red dress but she had a stone face like she was a hardened bad-a. She just seemed weary like she was waiting for something bad.

Then we all heard a noise and pinky younger girl takes out a semi automatic (I think) my gun knowledge is crap. She says she's on it and she stomps upstairs in combat boots. The older woman kind of paces a moment shooting wary glances toward the stairs while panic I setting in for me. I ask what's going on but I know it's a home invasion and I feel entirely unprepared. I grab the old revolver out of the case and it feels just stupid in my hand like a broken stapler or something. It's like limp. The older woman goes upstairs when things are quiet. I heard no gun shots at all. An invader creeps in to the basement room but I was ready for him. In spite of having a gun in my hand I just slammed him in the head with something heavy and he conked. I started to climb the stairs but stop because the older woman comes flailing wildly down it before she was shot and tumbled down landing in a heap. No blood. Thought that was weird. I caught a glimpse of the involved invader and he grinned at me. His face was the most clear of everyone's and yet I dont know him. I try to duck into the room but he's see me and he has a pistol aimed for me. I try to get away but I'm so panic stricken that my body just kinda fails. I manage to turn around and aim the revolver and it shoots but nothing comes out. the stupid thing still feels mangled and useless in my hand. He aimed at me and I woke up.

I was looking at what some of the blaring parts mean. Home invasion seems to mean a feeling of invaded privacy and guns apparently symbolize confrontation. I guess I'm wondering why the emphasis on different kinds and what the heck a broken crappy one means. I'm not really a gun person. I've no desire to own one but in my adult life I'm becoming more vaguely interested in at least taking a basic firearms course. I'm on the fence on it cause I'm neutral toward it all honestly.

Do you get any sense of relationship to the actions at various ages? Each stands for an approach to action ... Like the younger pink-spiky goes headlong into confrontation armed to the teeth. The older red-dress is more cautious & investigates without armament. Your figure is stuck, trapped & with a crappy defense 'though took action just the same. So all 3 respond differently to the same experience showing 3 choices of action.

The dream itself could be a method of examining ways to deal with an intrusive situation or sense of feeling unprepared. The intrusion can represent something that disturbs self-identy, the safe-personality.

I'm not making much more out of it.

The colors may be something or not. Youth was pink. Mature was red. Did you notice what color your character was in? Some concepts would look at the guns as phallic representations & actions in terms of responses as various levels of preparedness for maturing sexual exploration.

Ooh. Okay no this helps a little weirdly enough when you mentioned the guns possibly being a phallic symbol. My sexual identity has changed a lot since the 'pink spiky' age and my levels of trust in that department have also changed as well as really any desire to explore it. It is kind of one of those things in life right now thats there but like I wouldn't really even know what to do with it. But on that note then the older cautious woman confuses me a bit.

As for the colors I didn't catch mine. It was like a first person game so all I saw was my hands but the gun cabinet seemed to glow gold with my hand which I dismissed as like a 'this is your objective' (I play a lot if video games and sometimes that kinda stuff happens) I think maybe now it should be noted that the broken revolver was insanely polished gleaming silver.

I'll have to think more on this and what the 'house' is referring to. Thank you
