In my experience, it is nearly impossible to keep messages from the world if the messages need to come out.

Let it come out...and accept it with grace.

Wise words juliaki.

Or maybe not accept it with grace but learn for future who you tell what to.

Generally binding spells should be the absolute last choice for spellwork. Good luck with what comes your way from that....

I agree, binding spell should be a last resort. My advise is.. If you dont know a lot about the spells you are preforming....then dont preform them. learn first, practice later. You wont regret it.

no offence, but if they are going around telling everyone your secret then it seems like they aren't very trustworthy. are you sure you want to continue telling them your secrets?

well maybe the lesson you are meant to learn is that if you want something kept secret you dont tell people.

well put sobek. take this advice... if you dont want anyone knowing your secret, dont tell anyone. But if you have to share it with someone, share it with the person you are closest too, could be your family or a close friend. Make sure you trust them 100% though and you know they wont tell a soul.

What about people who aren't necessarily gossipy but just won't shut up. I work with a guy who spouts the most horrible negative gargage you could ever imagine. When he walks in his voice is going full blast with all the subtlety of a 50 car pile up. I'd rather rub salt in my eyes than hear this guy's daily performance. I'd sure consider a spell to shut him up and trust me the rule of three would never be a concern here. Shutting this guy up would be a favor to the world. I'd probably be blessed with untold riches.

About Secrets:

Three can keep a secret, if two of them are dead.

Steven:

You may want to consider placing a glamour on yourself to keep him from talking to you. Also, using a negativity shield on your aura would go well towards making the entire situation much more tolerable.

Ok. To keep info isolated, the most effective spell would involve taking the idea or whatever, express it fully on paper, put it in an icecube tray, fill that tray with water, and put it in the freezer. (a clean cardboard milk carton with water in it might be safer) That' will keep it hushed up, at least until the cube thaws out, which might be during the next power outage, or if someone leaves the door open on the freezer, or someone else in your household accidentally puts it into their drink. :-)

Now, I want to clarify... do you want them to not talk about it to you, or not tell other people? The beauty of what I've just shared is that it works well for both. (watch the wording, though) Also, I should point out as many of these fine people have, that this sort of thing is much more easily done through social engineering than spellwork. So remember that for next time.

I know this is a little old, but like JCrowfoot said... freezing works well. I've used it successfully, but in a small jar at the bottom of the freezer. (That way no one will put it in a drink.) There are also versions that uses vinegar that I've read before, but it was described in a way that would be a no-no if you're Wiccan.

The good thing is that you can adapt it so that it's not necessarily harming anyone else. :)

Sorry to bump this back up, but I just wanted to second the idea of freezing. I agree with the person who said that people should know what they're doing before they try such things. But the freezer is the only method I have tried, and it has worked well every time. Other ideas I've read about, most of them seem to be a little questionable to me. Whereas the freezer seems to be harmless.

I was really surprised by the responses to this question. Just because someone is gossiping or telling secrets about me doesn't necessarily mean that I told a secret to anyone. Someone might have made an assumption that is correct, or actually witnessed me doing something that is really no one's business. I think there are a lot of other situations in which one could have others telling "secrets" without having told anyone anything. And sometimes there are situations where we need a little assistance. :)

Well a binding may have been over the top. You said "Not a gossip spell, just something to keep them from telling the world my secret". Well, a gossip spell should actually do that if I'm thinking correctly.
But yes, as others have said, becareful when handling secrets. Magic shouldn't be used to solve all problems (as much as I hate to admit it), it should be a last resort. Try dealing with it the 'normal way' first.
