Curses/ hexes/ bad stuff

Postby fallinfrom0feet » Mon Mar 28, 2016 8:52 am

Lately I've been wondering if I may have been cursed or hexed or had some other negative energy focused towards me.

Now don't get me wrong, I know everyone has a bad day or even a bad week. We all go threw struggles and trials in our life. But at what point do we go from normal struggles to.... another cause. Is it just bad luck? Is bad luck just the result of karma or someone else's negative influence?

I guess I'm just curious on everyone's thoughts. Any information about hexes or curses. How to get rid of them. Really anything informative or insightful.

(OK, fallinfrom0feet, that has to be one of the most different usernames I've yet seen on this board! :) haha, If you'd like, feel free to share how you arrived at it, here: why-did-you-choose-your-username-t25111.html. But anyways...)

"Power of Positive Thinking" Folks

There are a lot of very mixed feelings about curses in the pagan population, not one general point of view, really. These are some of my observations, and conclusions I've drawn...

I've noticed that, on the one hand, some have a sort of Law of Attraction perspective, that there really is no such thing as a real curse, that one could "will" his or her way out of what may appear to be a cursed situation by applying lots of positive thinking, "not letting it get to you," "not drawing negative energy to yourself," and so on. It follows that with these folks curses and the like are negative experiences you somehow brought upon yourself due to your shortcoming of lacking the skill of "staying positive." You must work on that.

These folks might tend to lean quite a bit on the Love & Light side of things, and cultivate a very useful "spiritual blind spot" when it comes to acknowledging any part of the darker realities of life. Something surprising I've noticed, though, is these folk often have some kind of heavy duty shadows pestering their own psyches, which they've never addressed. When you start talking curses or any other such "negative" things they will kind of tune you out because (it's my belief) they'd really rather not deal with negative things in their own lives. That's just my theory, at least, having dealt with Love & Lighters who I later found to be extremely calculating and coldly passive aggressive, lol.

Paranoid Folks

Then on the other hand, I think there are other instances where people rely a little too much on the explanation of curses/jinxes when life isn't going their way, especially the very superstitious types, and rather than just handle their stuff, they look for a convenient scapegoat of some kind, a bad guy they could blame for their woes. Maybe in their culture that's what they were taught, or maybe it's just their personality quirk. Either way, these folks tend to be marked by a rather histrionic, "Omigod, the sky is falling!" kind of behavior. The subject of curses being done on them immediately gets them the empathy they crave, instant gratification. In the drama they have generated, they seem to enjoy what they might view as camaraderie, and happily feed vampirically on the resultant attention they receive.

Legitimate Jinxes/Curses

Personally, I do think there are genuine instances where people throw negative energy at other people, what some might call psychic attacks, or black magic, hexes, etc., and if not remedied properly, such could do legitimate damage to a certain extent. In some instances, a practitioner might resort to using negative entities to do their bidding, but this is rare and more for the movies. And in some instances, too, there are curses that are inter-generational, brought upon an ancestor and still affecting family-line descendants.

Ameliorating Curses/Jinxes

In my opinion, before anything else, best thing to do is first get a divination done by someone who's keen on this kind of thing. This is helpful because usually one who suspects a curse was done is too much in a fear-mode, and not objective enough to assess their own situation rationally. And if the reading says, "dude, you're trippin,' let it go," then let it go. But, if the reading says a legitimate response is called for, just think of it as doing some spiritual hygiene that's all, nothing more, nothing less. It's kind of like being told by the dentist you have a cavity, and you need to have it filled before it gets worse. Don't trip out over it, just get it done.

What might also be helpful is, if possible, use the same type of magic for the solution, as was used to create the problem. If you're not conversant in that type of magic, it may be a good idea to hire someone who is. Of course, that gets tricky, because there are many out there who will play on your fear factor, and without conscience charge you several house payments worth of money. Just depends on where you want to go with this. And here is where getting a good reading up front could potentially have saved you a lot of money, wasted time and unnecessary fear. Divination was used, after all, by leaders of countries and militias before going to war. There's a good reason for that: they, understandably, didn't want to waste their time and resources.

Though I am not minimizing the reality of curses/jinxes themselves, all in all I think Hollywood has made too big of a deal of this stuff. None of this is anything new to humanity (in fact, it's all quite ancient), and in all the instances I described above, there are ways to ameliorate these situations. Know that most practitioners, especially haters who want to ruin your day, are not even connected enough with the spirit realm to even know how utilize negative entities in the first place, so that's one thing you rarely have to worry about. Honestly, they usually make complete idiots of themselves, and do more harm to themselves than they do to their actual targets, lol.

And as far as inter-generational stuff goes, these curses could even be undone once for all. They're not permanent, it's usually just that no one in the family was smart or vigilant enough to take care of it. It's like no one bothering to clean the living room, or remove plastic bag trash that blew into the front yard; everybody just walks by it and says, "Gee, somebody ought to do something about that [smh]," and then keeps going. But once you take it upon yourself to take care of it, that's that. Your descendants may thank you for it, haha.

In all these situations, one just gets the wiser next time, that's all. It's not pleasant dealing with pesky haters, but it's not the end of the world, either. Just learn from it.

Thanks for reading.

Hello Fallinfrom0feet,
I agree with Kassandra, I think the first thing you need to do is get a reading from someone you trust. In the meantime you can ask yourself if perhaps you've been making some bad life choices to land you in the position you find yourself. As well, you could talk to an astrologer, it could be a period of challenges and hardship for you. Often, the fear of being cursed can cause you, the supposed "victim" to unconsciously work against yourself. You need to remember that everyone experiences ups and downs in their life.

Here are a few signs that a curse/hex might have been thrown your way:
Sudden, unusual and constant "bad luck'
Physical, psychological and emotional fatigue which in not alleviated with sleep or exercise
Sudden financial difficulties
Vivid and terrifying nightmares
Sleep paralysis repeating for at least three consecutive nights
Dwelling on depressing or even suicidal thoughts and feelings, inconsistent with your natural emotional and mental
state.
Family and friends distancing themselves from you for no apparent reason
A constant sense of anxiety, not traceable to any mundane source or circumstance but a sudden sense of impending
harm.
The disappearance or deaths of household pets
Unexplained family deaths
An increase in peripheral entity-detection and/or seeing "shadow people" more often
An increase in poltergeist activity in your home or work place

If you have been cursed and if you're at all psychically sensitive, you'll probably feel the energy of the curse moving towards you permeating your home and even pressing against your forehead. It can feel that something heavy is around you and pressing down on you.

But doing some divination is very important.

Hope this helps,
Jenny Crow

Yep, this is a big ingredient in successful curse work, ironically, lol. I guess this would be where the Law of Attraction perspective kind of comes in, but moreso with an inexperienced person who is the target...a more experienced person, rather than immediately resort to fear mode (especially after having dealt with this kind of thing before), would probably react with more of an attitude like, "Oh, so you want a fight, do you?!" and take it from there.

I am usually really not in the "Law of Attraction" camp, but with curses and hexes, I really firmly believe that 99% of curses are psychological. That's not to say that someone can't send you bad energy, but you can also give the curse more strength and power over you. The whole purpose of a curse, in my opinion, is to be disempowering -- to make you feel like a victim, be constantly paranoid, believe you have no power over what is happening to you. That usually makes a few unlucky incidents seem completely insurmountable, and make you feel like you can't take action to improve your situation (which ironically often makes your bad situation worse!).

So it's really a self-perpetuating cycle, that is really fed by your own belief in the curse. That's why the most destructive curses are when 1. the curse-giver makes the curse known to the victim, and 2. when the victim believes that the curse is inescapable and blames it on everything. If you never knew about or thought about the curse, then you most often would just shrug off some bad energy as an unlucky streak. Or, if you must, do some shielding and spell-work, wear a protective talisman -- whatever you need to do to feel like you have reclaimed your power.

I really am not one to suddenly jump to a string of bad luck or unfortunate circumstances must mean curse. I have just been doing some reflecting lately on life, my life, and of coarse my faith is a part of that.

I'm 27, have been researching and practicing probably for at least 10 years now. Anything I've ever ran into in regards of this subject have been either very dooms day ish and which I think is just crazy talk. Like I think more then one has said media has blown this subject out of proportion. Or on the only spectrum it's always been like they don't exist.

I personally belive in a balance and the power of positive or negative thinking. I think you can send good or bad energy to someone whether you believe or not. After all isn't that what prayer is for christians? Just a type of reinforced positive thinking and meditation. If we're going this route, people who are angry with you, jelouse with you, or whatever else might they just be sending that negativity out into the universe to harm you in some way? Just as we do with spells of abundance and the like?

I've suffered from depression and anxiety for alot of my life. And I know I'm sure I bring alot of it onto myself with my own negative thoughts. But looking back even as of lately I'm trying my hardest to remain positive threw the trials I've been going threw but it seems every step forward I get gets me three steps backward. Looking back its been true for most of my life. Great boyfriend, parents force him to move. Finally move out of my parents house- yay independence, loose job 2 weeks later. Manage to find new job, car breaks down. Find more adorable place to live in nicer neighborhood, gets robbed. It's just seemed like a never ending cycle.

I've had a really hard time connecting to my faith/path the past year or so alone. I guess it's got me feeling even more lost then usual. I can't seem to concentrate enough to sit down in meditation or do any sort of spell work to even help me threw my struggles. It's frustrating. Lol

I might just be being a negative Nancy but stuff like this is what causes me to research more into my path. Even if it's not a curse or anything like that l love seeing everyone's thought on the subject.

All of those events happening are quite ungrounding. They could cause you to feel unsure in the world. Who could blame you for wondering, "OK, what's going on here, have I been cursed or something?" And yes, thanks for letting us share our thoughts on the topic. It was fun for me to write them out, feel out what my own thoughts were on the topic. My sentence or two turned into a whole, multi-paragraphed "article," lol. That was fun, though.

But back to your earlier question in the original post, "We all go threw struggles and trials in our life. But at what point do we go from normal struggles to.... another cause [?]" I'm glad you elaborated in this post on why you felt you could be cursed. The first post seemed like you were just asking about the subject to start a discussion. I did not think you were really referring to your own life (that's the impression I got, don't know about anyone else).

But knowing what I know now, I'd say a cursed or jinxed state might very well look like what you've described here. So, now, the question would be, have you felt that anyone within any of your spheres of acquaintances has had it in for you in any way --a relative, a guy's jealous exgirlfriend, a creepy co-worker, anybody? And also, does anyone in your circle of acquaintances or family know the craft?

If these are both nos, then I would be inclined to think there's no curse present. As was suggested, an astrological chart would be more revealing than anything. It will tell you when the string of unfortunate events will end. It's amazing how accurate those things are, when the person interpreting them really knows their stuff.

Thanks.

Just an FYI, my doctor told me that clinical depression comes in roughly 7 year cycles and then he outlined my life so accurately I was flabbergasted since it was our 1st meeting. that was a good way for him to make a believer out of me, like any good showman knows. In the depths of my bad times it seemed I radiated negativity and just kept collecting more crap. I knew I had to break the cycle and started rather feebly to monitor my thinking. Any time I could slap a poor-me-ism down I felt charged. Of course I had to take the prescribed med to clear my head, but I wasn't going to rely on it alone. I'm a scrapper. Inch by inch I stopped looking at what went wrong and focussed on what went right, accepting that crap happened. My water heater quit, my car croaked, my basement flooded, my roof required repairs...on and on. crap happened. Mechanical things need maintenance. I'm not responsible for the rain. Roofs wear out. Not cursed, just normal life happening. yes, it is a struggle. :anxious: We have to remember to give ourselves credit for the progress we make.

Years earlier I had promised myself I would meditate 10 minutes everyday, no excuses, baring unconsciousness. I have always used prayer beads. You can do different things, so I didn't have to do the same type of meditation like a robot. You gotta keep it interesting. One time I consciously broke the promise...it bugged me so much I got out of bed and grabbed the beads and put my ten minutes in, grudgingly but I did it. Another time or two or three, I just forgot. My nagging little voice hauled my butt out of bed again, and I enjoyed a good session. We say every relationship takes
maintenance.

I did wonder if a b.i.zitchy coworker put the stink eye on me when she told me to go to he'll, especially when I fell...somersaulted... down a flight of stairs and landed in the cats drinking water bowl. Very wet. Laying there, checking out my bones, I knew as well that my Guardian had saved me from breaking my neck. Having someone on my side! Ah. makes a difference. Sitting up in the puddle, no bones broken just bruised and a lump on my head, I decided it didn't matter if someone wished me I'll; if I had accepted the energy, then it was what I did about it that counted. after a few days limping and some research I took a vinegar scrub shower and did a 9 day novena, " just in case." Not only did my Guardian save my bacon, (i will accept no argument on this) the crack on the head caused me to not need eyeglasses anymore. My drivers license no longer says I must wear corrective lenses. Hey! OK with me. a bonus.
