Celtic Astrology

Postby SnowCat » Fri Dec 05, 2014 11:27 pm

I was looking up my birth date as it pertains to Celtic Astrology. My tree is the elder tree, and my animal is the crow. Maybe that explains the plethora of crows that sit in nearby trees and harangue me. It's just my relatives saying hello.

I have been looking into this also, but there is so little info, and it would seem much if the lore is through Robert Graves, "The White Goddess".

Hmmm, I have a book on Ogham divination and there it says the animal, connected to the Elder tree is a black horse. On the other hand it also says the Elder tree is a symbol of the death and reincarnation which would make it a lot more connected to the raven ...
I think I'll be doing more research on the subject.

There is a book called 'The Druid Animal Oracle' which is quite good. The animals which it focuses on are native to the UK. There is also 'Animal Speak' by Ted Andrews which is very good, but it is about animals in general and not about the Celtic tradition. However, both these books are good for the over all meaning of animals but I don't think there is a lot of information regarding Astrology. Not sure about any good web sites.

Ash, Oak, Hawthorn, Elder & Yew are said to be the trees of the faer.

Crows & Ravens are attractive but I'd have too much respect to keep them as pets.
Their shrieking usually warns me about bad influences coming in from the astral.
Of course they are good as they provide me the grace of informing in advance.

I think they are totally aware of the battlefield of any sort and their presence is a sign of battles to be faced.

I say hello to them when they're around. I talk to the squirrels that fuss at me too.

I think I used to have the encyclopedia. Someone that was staying with me temporarily, years ago, took a bunch of my books when he went back to Utah. I just never replaced them.
