Can plastic pretend candles be used for worship?

Postby Ivy Amethyst » Tue Jan 12, 2016 2:06 pm

My college has a multi faith room but real candles aren't permitted so it's full of plastic candles with a little orange light in them to simulate candles. Will it still work with my worship of Brighid?

Yes, they shouldn't be a problem. Most deities care more about intent. In you are sincere in your worship, and bring the best you are able to, it doesn't matter what items you use.
I sing of you, blessed, night-winged Dream, Messenger of things to come, greatest prophet to mortals, in the quiet of sweet sleep you come silently and speak to the soul.

I light pretend-candles in the hallway on my bookshelf, where I keep my pentacle gems and my "forest treasures".

It doesn't only look really nice - to me it means a lot having those "candles lit" (started lighting them before Samhain and will light them until Beltane).

Your intent is the most powerful magical tool! Real candles are nice, but if that's not allowed, use the plastic ones, as long as you have magical thought and intent it will work!

Don't forget that Brighid is a goddess of water, too. She may like a small glass of water, too.

"Can plastic pretend candles be used for worship?"

Yes, absolutely yes. In magic the symbol is as real as the thing itself. Also, a "flameless" battery candle gives an electric charge which is plasma & that's another form of the Fire element. In Nature we see plasma in lightening bolts - natural fire. You can also substitute prohibited smoky incense with a reed oil diffuser for the aroma, or substitute the smoke with an aerosol mist. It's still an air symbol.

Fake anything out there = Real soul in here. The deities would not mind at all. Using fake movies, music and tv, 99 percent of the population proves happily met by jesus, muhammad, et al. It's a religion, being true to your own unique self-interest. Economic practicale. Or magic, if you like.
